Okay - if you're talking about promoting irresponsible drinking, then yeah - the tower thing serving 12 drinks at once could be seen to encourage binging - if you want to get your money's worth, you drink the whole thi8ng, and you'll be shiat-faced unless you're there for 12 hours or so.

But: Advertised as "the world's first drink in a tube", GoVodka is being sold in four different flavours. The 190ml plastic tubes, containing 8.5 per cent alcohol, have re-sealable lids.

17 proof? In a pocket-size tube? Come on. That's 16.15 ml of pure alcohol, or 0.5461 oz. That's the equivalent of 1.09 oz. of 100 proof vodak in a 6.5-oz. drink. I can't see how this promotes a binge.

...And pitchers of beer, let's get rid of pitchers of beer while we're at it because as we all know they never get shared by a bunch of people at the same table.

That drink-bong doohickey does look pretty cool though. I'd think it would be great for parties.

How about you get over yourself and stop being a twat.

It isn't your job to care.
It isn't even your country.

By the way, throughout Australia you will find that what they consider "intoxication" is about 1 really strong drink from what we do. At least as a legal matter. .05 BAC

It's not about binge drinking. These tube things are squarely aimed at kids who are not yet at the legal age (which is 18 here in Oz).

That is true. I know most kids who live near the Mexico or Canada border go there the first chance they get to legally get drunk.

I went to Spain when I was 16 with some friends. I stayed plastered and still made it back to the states alive.

/I still have fond memories of the cheesy boat ride where I beat out someone from South Africa in a game of musical chairs and won a bottle of champagne

I'm all for "the youth" learning their limits early. There's no benefit that I see to allowing 18 year olds in the USA to vote, serve in the military and get married, but not allow them to have a drink for another 3 years. Let them get it out of their system while they are young and have time to learn that drinking isn't as glamorous or sexy or spectacular as they think it is. Otherwise, they risk learning those lessons much later in life, and nothing is sadder than a 35 year old at a house party screaming "KEG STAND! KEG STAND!"

The Towers are not a new thing at all, and really don't promote binge (or underage) drinking at all. You can buy them at some of the bars around here, filled with beer, as sort of a better, bigger pitcher. Now fishbowls OTOH (a literal fishbowl filled with gatorade mix and a pint glass of vodak) are evil, as they will inevitably be had by one or two people in the fastest way possible.

Where I come from, a "tube of booze" = a flask of whatever you choose to fill it up with.

And a half rack in the kitchen sink for $12 > any gimmicky bullshiat like this. Plus I can smoke, smoke weed, play my own music, and generally have a lot more fun at home. Also, no cab fare/DUI worries. And I can cook. Any Farkettes care to join?

Bonus game: Count me in. Looks like fun.

Note the ice in the tower, nice. The cold liquid will drop keeping the drinks temperature regular.

All the women at the Xmas party I went too had some sort of green slurpee alcoholic cocktail thing filled with ice shavings.

You guys in the Northern Hemisphere are just jealous because you have to suffer these holidays in the freezing cold!

schattenteufel [TotalFark] 2008-12-28 09:25:10 AM
Booze in toothpaste tubes? Why not; it's not like they use them for toothpaste!

bighairyguy [TotalFark] 2008-12-28 09:27:41 AM

dionada [TotalFark] 2008-12-28 09:29:31 AM
Looks like the perfect gift for the on-the-go alcoholic.

Also, why would you go to a club or bar and bring your own booze? Don't they typically frown on that sort of thing?

I like Australia, but bigsteve3OOO is right - sometimes they do some really Floriduh-like sh*t.

LineNoise [TotalFark] 2008-12-28 09:44:26 AM
I hate beer bongs. I suppose they would work better with mixed drinks, but for beer, you either end up killing it in one shot with a group, defeating the purpose of having a readily available supply of beer, and having everyone get a ton of head on theirs, or it sits around getting warm waiting for everyone to have a second round.

No beer goggles needed for that.

If you need the goggles, maybe you should put down the Maxim, wash your hands and get out of your parents basement once in a while.

More like foreshadowing; as in subtly hinting toward the end of the evening when "she" removes her knickers & reveals a male sex organ!

Kidding. She's not that awful; I'd hit it.
