Bravo, Submitter. You are an inspiration to us all, a shining beacon of hope in these dark times.

Nice. I don't think I could write a limerick if I tried.

Crikey! She got a greenlight.
Now I have to read the freaking article.
/As a surfer, I hope I get taken by a shark, rather than a MUNI Bus.
//Maybe they'll have a special on Shark Week.

I found subby's rhyming amusing,
and more than a little bemusing,
but I find that the facts,
bely humorous acts,
and that limericks are quite confusing.

/In prose: Great headline, bummer story.

There has been hysterics all over the news here in Perth, but it's all bullshiat.

The vast, vast majority of shark attacks happen when the shark mistakes a human being for another animal, like a seal.

They are so rare. Far me people die each each from attacks by aboriginals, and you don't see Australia trying to wipe them all ou....wait

Subby has never heard of the term "taken by shark" so he writes a poem about it. Nope, not seeing the awesomeness.

That satisfied predicate P,
He or she did thing A,
In an adjective way,
Resulting in circumstance C.

Shark apologist! I think that anybody that goes swimming in the ocean and is never seen again should be listed as "eaten by shark".

Shark apologists love to tell people that sharks are harmless and gentle creatures, then to prove it they will go diving and interact with Nurse Sharks, but that's like telling people that Tigers are harmless then rolling around on the floor with a house cat to prove the point.

They may actually go in the water with a Bull Shark to make the point, but when they do they take all sorts of precautions, stay absolutely still and act exactly like a person swimming in the ocean doesn't. And even then sometimes the apologist gets his legs ripped off.

Not all sharks are dangerous, dangerous sharks are dangerous. I don't care about the 10,000 species of shark that are harmless. Its the dozen or so species that are pricks that keep me hiding under my bed, and even then I'm not safe from the Ludovician.

Sharks are cold ruthless killers that would eat your grandma and cash her social security checks.

Quote from the guy's son: 'It's a shock loss for the family," Steve Kent told Australian reporters. "He was a loving father and husband who appears to have been taken by a shark.'

He added that Mr Guest, who worked in the banking industry, would not have wanted the shark to be hunted and destroyed.

"[He's spent] many, many years diving and fishing and [has] a very deep respect for the water and he knows the dangers of being in the water," Mr Kent said.

"It's nature and we should pay respects to nature and nature's ways."

Wow... sounds pretty sensible to me for a guy whose dad just got munched by a shark. I'd imagine him grabbing hold of a shotgun and hiring a boat to do some shark-hunting.

If he was Australian (didn't RTFA) wouldn't a Steve Irwin response be a more appropriate application of a stereotype? Hunting with a shotgun sounds more Texan to me.

You make a good point. I'd pay to watch a guy wrestle down a shark.

I am very alone in my desire to be eaten by a shark. I seriously want this.
I do not plan to go that way prematurely (much) or commit emo suicide by shark, I want to reach a grand age and when the faculties are failing, when the alzheimers is kicking in and when the limbs are more tired than is acceptable I want to swim out and enter into the food chain.
I have always loved sharks, I am fascinated by them and shark attacks/feeding. I am a recycler. I think it is strange that mankind has progressed to the point where our natural predators are few and weather and ourselves are our main enemies.
Plus I want to go with my heart racing.

Cue hate.

I'm scared to death of sharks but am addicted to surfing the cold waters of northern California. And also, I want to die doing what I love. And drowning sounds sucky. So bring on Whitey. Eventually. Just not yet. That is all.

ATTENTION MORONS! When you swim in the ocean you are no longer at the top of the food chain.
Stay out of the soup and you wont get eaten.

/That is all.
