They should give the speaker manufacturer feedback...

Josiah Wineberger, now 5, was injured in February 2007 accident at the Baywalk Shopping Plaza after a speaker fell from a 2nd floor balcony, hitting the boy in the head.

I find it infinitely baffling that someone would drop a speaker off a balcony, but maybe they were wired.

If you bass your assumptions on this article, you'll conclude that this family has been through a lot of treble.

I_Can't_Believe_it's_not_Boutros 2008-12-27 06:22:33 PM
The Winebergs' have a pending negligence lawsuit against Baywalk.

If I were the judge, I'd award treble damages.

News of the incident is reverberating throughout the community. "There's a lot of static," say Lieutenant Bose, "but clues will turn up."

They can get a behind the meter surge protector and install surge protectors on the electronic equipment. If course, the home isn't theirs, the home had gone into foreclosure several months ago, and that the owner won't pay to fix the wiring problem because the home is in foreclosure. Sounds like they need a TV Link (48"TV in their area) and a new apartment Link (New apartment in their area).

Sounds like the mall does not understand the gravity of speakers falling and clipping kids.

/Got nothin'.
//See the Red Cross does help, read the article.

Note to mall: Next time, buy an L-clamp and two bolts.

The Asshole Guy 2008-12-27 07:31:25 PM
So what is wrong with the kid? Article states he will need a life time of care. Did the speaker turn him into tard soup or something?

Assume a 10 lb speaker from two stories, falling at a constant acceleration of 9.8 meters/second^2...

That'll be some megahertz right there.

Heh, I had a set of those back in the 70's. (I recognize that 1977 RS catalog page.) 50 pounds apiece would cause a bit more than a "dent".

Also, wiring them into a 150-watt Sansui usually caused irate neighbors and visits from the cops.

Been following this story as it's in my old hometown area.

The speaker fell from the balcony of a bar in the BayWalk Center, smacked the kid, causing severe head trauma. The little boy's lucky to have lived after brain swelling. The family didn't have a great income level and were devastated by the medical bills.

The rude comments about the family are bassless and really have tweaked me off.

I know it's Fark and all, but seriously.

a) Four kids really isn't that many. Five and up is kind of weird to me, but my cousins are a set of four and it works fine.

b) Speaker fell on little kid's head.

How in the hell isn't there an open/shut lawsuit here, and how in the hell people can biatch about the family is beyond me.

For f--k's sake... hit. a. little. kid's. head. And a burned-down house.

I hope their lawyer knows what the hell he/she is doing. The house can't be helped; the story'll probably inspire a few people to help out a bit since it's still holiday season, hopefully. But there's no reason the place freakin' obviously at fault shouldn't be obligated to cover all the kid's bills from the accident. They should have insurance for such things, no?

Sad. My family has a similar "when you think it couldn't get any worse, fate f--ks you over again" situation going on now, but definitely on a smaller scale.
