OH I know. There's shiat all over every road around here. What funny is there's an "Adopt a highway" sign every couple of miles. Someone isn't picking up their weight in trash around here. And signs for "spotting litterers" with phone numbers, which apparently have little effect.

this Being from the Pacific NW, I was appalled at the way they throw shiat, particularly burning cigarettes, out car windows. Seattle cops are more than happy to write a $1,000 ticket for this, but while in NC it seemed to be considered normal.

I'm not so sure about that. I moved to NC from TN 25 years ago and as more and more people have moved here, the trash problem has gotten worse and worse. Don't know if the huge influx of Yankees has helped create the trash problem; IMO it's probably a combination of more people (Yankees, Hispanics, Northwesterners) and less trash pickup and lax law enforcement.

That is a sterotype that I would like to refute. I am born and raised NC, and not only do I not throw trash out of the car, I even pick up trash if I am walking around the neighborhood.

This is not a NC thing, if any state had a pick up program like us, you would see the same numbers in pounds.
