Meh. I really don't care who gets Hillary's senate seat. It'll go to the highest bidder no matter what, and I doubt that person (whomever it turns out to be in the end) would have any sort sympathy for the people living in the state of New York.

No, that's the wrong way to go about it. We should have state legislatures elect US senators. Think about it - I can't really affect a state-wide popular election, or the governor appointing one of his buddies to a senate seat....but I can give my local representative an earful. I can make damn sure that they pay for it come next election cycle. My local representative will know my opinion(s) and won't want to cross me or people like me. If they fark up, I can make sure they don't get re-elected. And they know it, so they'll vote accordingly.
