Very Stevie Ray like.

I concur. That was pretty bad ass.

Do you concur?

No, it was very Stevie Ray like. As in copycat.

QFT. Booed his ass in a mostly-empty amphitheater for copying SRV riffs verbatim back in the early 90's. He was opening at one of the Benson & Hedges Blues Festivals in Dallas.

You mean when the guy was in his mid-teens?

Never heard of him, but come on, who doesn't rip off their idols when they're 15?

/hoped this thread would be about the band Deja Voodoo

wasn't he banging Shannon Curfman for a while?

Is that at the ACL venue? I know he played there in '97...

Very talented guitarist.

Yeah, he was channeling SRV. But SRV ripped off the greats such as Hendrix and Albert King. He has talent, and he'll most likely mature musically with age.

He already has. The Ten Days Out album was pretty good. By all accounts he's a major douchenozzle in person though, and always has been.

KWS is a talented guitar player. His early albums were mere emulations of SRV but his latest have been more original. For my money, though, give me Jonny Lang. His last album was mediocre at best but for being the same age as KWS, he's a much more original and dynamic performer. I've seen both in concert and Jonny simply blows Kenny away.

Having said that... both are two of the most talented musicians around today but what a shame they'll never be embraced by today's mainstream the way performers such as Clapton were in their day. Give us more Britney, please.

/and KWS needs to stick with Noah Hunt as his vocalist

As if SRV invented the Blues. He wasn't wholly original himself.

You guys are complaining about Kenny Wayne Shepard copying SRV? The kid copied HIMSELF. There is a song on the first album and a song on the second album that are nearly identical, except for lyrics. I can't remember names, but the second I heard the second album I stopped listening to him.

At least he didn't copy SRV by using his middle name in his stage name.

Wait...

Agreed on all counts. Loved Trouble Is... in particular, but still prefer Lang.

I saw him open for the modern Lynard Skynard, maybe seven to nine years ago. He did a fantastic set. Ended up buying a T shirt.

i think the singer is more important in this song than the rehashed blues guitar
