He's the pick. Patterson probably would have made that choice already if Kennedy hadn't wandered in.

Tell ya what...go over to Free Republic, WND, pick up a Limbagh book, something, come back with something new, mkay?

We had no power blips at all. We're in Center Square though, so the utilities actually pretend to care about giving us decent service.

Paterson's appointment process shouldn't be rushed. That would be short sighted.

Yeah, aside from that being elected thing.

Not that it matters at this point, but was she any good?

I personally don't care for Patterson. But the SNL skit a few weeks ago was entertaining. There's definitely been funnier skits, but the impression was dead on.

Yeah, I see your point.

Mine is that it doesn't matter much what a persons qualifications are, what matters is what they do once they get there.

IMO, most office holders are good at winning elections, but not so good at what they're elected for.

If you look at those who have qualifications before being elected, and those without qualifications, I wonder which group would have a higher percentage of officeholders doing a good job?

Pretty tough to make that call, lot's of subjective variables, but you get my point. Would we be better off drafting our congress critters?

Dr Dreidel 2008-12-26 02:36:48 PM
This seat has been referred to by several sources (most recently when Fran Drescher's name came up regarding the seat), so I think Paterson should oblige. I mean, the vast majority of Senators are men, so sending a woman (hopefully a centrist) from the liberal-ish state of NY (see, 'cuz there's the city, then there's the other 40% of the state) could be a good thing.

I hope he picks 6iu11iani.

While the MSM has their "panties in a bunch" over the Blogo story. It seems that their isn't a real public uproar over this issue. I get the feeling that there is a widespread sentiment that this is pretty much business as usual for political appointees.

While Blago was a little more candid than is normally considered polite, I got the impression that the tapes were a bit like "seeing how sausage is made." Did anyone really think that appointments to a high profile political position was done in some sort of meritorious process, especially in the great state of Illinois.

Reminds me of good ole Tammany Hall days. The more things change...

Politics attracts a weird mix of types, and only a small percentage seem to do it in the spirit of service.

My, somebody didn't like my comment. I neglected to save it for once, so I can only reconstruct it from memory.

*ahem*

"That must mean that there is another bid still out. Wonder what the winning bid will be.

/Now watch this dream sequence!"

/Not word for word, but fairly accurate.
//Yes, I do back up my comments, just in case something like this happens. Because it's happened before.
///Strange how it sometimes happens to an unabashed conservative, but never (to my knowledge) to an unabashed liberal. Just ooincidence, I'm sure.

Ah I see, the change guy just had a 2 hr interview with the COPS. Guess they were asking all the wrong questions and waist-in their time.

Naw....Corruption is now big Chicago style, starting 20 Jan.

Did you hear the joke where the guy investigates himself? Declares himself not guilty?
