Sing in me, Muse, and through me tell the story
of that man skilled in all ways of contending,
the wanderer, harried for years on end,
after he plundered the stronghold
on the proud height of Troy.

Now, see, it's not THAT hard to translate the vocative. Grrrrrrrr.

Tell me, O Muse, the story of the man skilled in all contests, the wanderer chased for years (on end is fine, but I've always done it "years and years" since that's closer in spirit) after he took the stronghold of Troy at its most powerful (or the most powerful stronghold of Troy).
