I get how nuking one of our own cities could be blamed on terrorists who stole Russian weapons.

I don't quite see how that would allow us to impose a world-wide dictatorship. Maybe we could hold ourselves hostage until everyone surrenders?

Maybe the Obama pull-out from Iraq is the first step in a buildup to a Risk-like conquest of the rest of the world. It might work great if we can stop the Australian counter-attack.

/// I think that maybe the rest of the Pravda staff is off on a Christmas holiday already and the security guards started writing some articles when the vodka ran out.

Wow, those mainstream guys are like the American 9/11 troofers.

Americans think their conspiracy theorists are bad, they would do well do visit countries like Russia or Turkey, where mainstream public opinion is extremely conspiratorial. There's an ongoing court case in Turkey right now where right-wing, secularist officers are accused of plotting with left-wing secularists to bomb a leftist newspaper in order to create chaos within the country directed against the Islamist government thereby allowing for a military coup.

You don't get much more conspiratorial than that.

Russians seem to be reflexively against accepting U.S. domination, but it would probably be a good deal for them. Let's face it, Russian attempts to control their own destiny have been a painful exercise in failure; they just don't have the stuff.

Russia should embrace the notion of U.S. domination as their best hope of escaping the death spiral they are in.

No doubt. I mean with their level of internal corruption, they'd fit right in with us.

Here comes the American Jingoist Parade! Seriously, all you folks who would jump on the "America should rule the world" bandwagon need to grow up.

I don't hate my fellow Americans, but over-inflated patriotism is seriously embarrassing.

I believe the US would fare far better as a non-interventionalist world power. Lead by example, not by force.

I'm not going to go so far as to claim that the U.S. government planned 9/11 or allowed it to happen intentionally. But it is a known fact among intellectuals, whether in the U.S. or outside, that the United States had always relied propaganda efforts to sway public opinion. All those secret agencies have a purpose. Indeed, most governments in the world would do the same - it's survival of the fittest, and what goes on in the government is always darker than it seems. It's just not so often that a government is hypocritical enough, that a people is delusional enough, to claim to be the greatest force of good on Earth when they're wrecking destruction around the globe. How many governments have the United States toppled since 1945? 72. How many governments have the USSR/Russia toppled? 2. There you go.

And, lest we forget, this is the same publication that has a story in the sidebar about the French releasing alien autopsy photos. Or whatever the hell that was.

Yeah, but the life expectancy of people in nations with better health care systems than our own would drop. That includes about every developed democracy on the planet.

what nations have "better" health care systems? what's your metric? the WHO scores ours as 15---not 1, unfortunately, but certainly not 40 or 80 or whatever you purport it to be.

1) Where did you get that laughable figure. 2)Was that the net result? As in they toppled them then failed? As in they decided to be free 50 years or so later when the SU collapsed? Because there are several countries in eastern Europe that would like a word with you. 3) Why did you start at 1945 cos' the SU toppled a lot of governments previous to that?
