If it isn't Drew, Lowtax, and Sarah Palin, it isn't worth the electrons to push it to my screen.

/not reading the article

Surprised, no Hugo Chavez? And where are all the Republicans?

I Said [TotalFark] 2008-12-23 11:43:22 AM
Didn't Sarkozy take the lead on talks with Russia during the conflict with Georgia? He's also been accused of blurring the lines that separate powers in France and he, too, was right about the war in Iraq. So given what very little I know about European politics I can see him being top dog in Europe.

But in any of these lists your going to get controversial quickly:
Steve Jobs at 34? I'd push him back.
Putin at 9? I'd rank him forward at 7.

I agree with keeping Chavez off, and as for the Repubs: hahahaha the truth hurts, doesn't it?

Did Newsweek publish a similar list last year? I can't seem to find it if they did.

Timothy Geithner checks in a #15. That's gotta be the highest ever for a Treasury Secy.

Thanks to TARP, he basically has the equivalent of the world's 12th largest economy in his pocket. Bigger than S. Korea.

To be fair, it -is- a Newsweek prediction.

IMHO, i think he should start a new private bank with that money and sell shares to people making under 100,000 per year annually only. Then lend the money out and sic the FBI on those who default.

/would clean out a lot of garbage in the system

actually subby, I think Sarkozy will be extremely influential but I understand why based on history, you would dismiss France entirely.

This guy is different though.

And he has a hot wife.

The French have been doing their own thing in recent history, which may not be a bad thing. Interestingly though that the German and Japanese leaders don't figure higher having larger economies under their control compared to France, I suspect that what sets Sarkozy apart is his willingness to get involved in foreign affairs and pulling other European leaders along for the ride.

/If only that ride was his wife

Really? I thought number 19 was the weirdest one. I didn't know that old guy who sings about beaches and margaritas and cheeseburgers would have so much influence. Even more than the Pope!

steevmit: Sarkozy apart is his willingness to get involved in foreign affairs

Germany is dragging its ass. Angela Merkel runs the 3rd or 4th largest economy in the world -- the ranking should reflect that, not farking France. If they don't get their shiat together, it's not going to be good. Merkel seems to think it's 1982.
