We should start a pool where we try to guess what right-wing pundit is going to be the first to be caught doing something really repulsive.

The obvious choice is Rush Limbaugh, for when someone finally asks "So what does he do on those Costa Rica vacations anyway?", but Hannity's a good pick.

I got my eye on Glenn Beck too. I bet that guy's into shiat that would make you lose your lunch.

He's already covered...doctor shopping/sending your maid to hook up with drug dealers pretty much qualifies for "really repulsive" in my book.

Someone needs to call his radio show and pose this question to him personally.

Everyone hates lawyers until they need one.

This would appear to be a contract suit.

What *does* Rush do in Costa Rica anyway? I have a Lovecraftian-esque desire to know just how far it all goes....

On a somewhat related note, after listening to Rush's act last week I'm wondering if he's back to snorting Oxycotin. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing. IMHO Limbaugh did his best work while high as a kite. I just wish someone would drug test him so we'd know for sure what he was up to these days.

Um... is it beyond the bounds of possibility that someone could just find out when he's going there next, and arrange to be there at the same time and trail him to see where he goes?

And yes, Tort Reform still IS needed!

TORT (n) Law: Damage, injury, or a wrongful act done willfully, negligently, or in circumstances involving strict liability, but not involving breach of contract, for which a civil suit can be brought.

i.e. - If I place an ad in USA Today that says "FlashHarry is a dumb idiot for thinking this is a tort case", then you could try to win damages for defamation under tort law.

/Of course, you winning would be hard because who reads newspapers anymore?

ParadigmLeftShift 2008-12-22 05:41:09 PM
No doubt it's the liberals fault somehow. Let me guess, this wouldn't have been an issue, if it hadn't been for all the regulation.

El_Dan 2008-12-22 05:41:59 PM
FlashHarry: a lawsuit, eh, sean? still in favor of tort reform?

To be fair, this seems to be a breach of contract suit, not a tort.

But the equally obnoxious talk radio buzzword "frivolous lawsuit" likely does apply. The suit is apparently against an LLC, and the LLC's members. The latter almost certainly have no personal liability. Waste of valuable resources, eh, Mr. Hannity?

It's possible the members have some liability. Depends on a lot of things. They may be able to pierce the veil.

Also, anyone who is for tort reform, please get back to me after an insurance company dicks you around. Tort reform is not for the doctors or anyone else except for the insurance companies.

I don't know what you bast that on. Members of closely-held corporations and limited liability companies are often guarantors of loans. Anyone who doesn't require a personal guaranty from the owners of a small business is a damn idiot.

More likely, the invisible hand is fisting the developers who borrowed money from Hannity and others, didn't build, stopped making payments, stopped returning phone calls, and are getting sued.

look around - I don't see *anyone* pulling any smart moves in this economy. in fact, I think about 90% of the financial market(s) in this country went stupid about 10 years ago. Or greed/corrupt. either way, it's a terrible market right now. I honestly don't know who to trust anymore.

Moridion: Also, anyone who is for tort reform, please get back to me after an insurance company dicks you around. Tort reform is not for the doctors or anyone else except for the insurance companies.

Depends on the form of tort reform. Non-Economic damages caps like California's MICRA? No, those don't help as much as reformers think.

Other tort reforms do work. For instance, limiting attorney's who negotiate class actions to receive only payment in kind does have a great deal of merit. (i.e. if a lawyer sues Toshiba on behalf of all its laptop buyers and settles for $100 million in coupons, the lawyer would not be paid $30-$40 million in cash as payment)

The stinky liberals couldn't get yet more massive loans to keep the ponzi scheme going, so it IS their fault. Why can't they clean up a little before going to the bank to apply for a home loan?

That alone didn't terribly bother me. The fact, however, that he did (and still does) call for casual drug users to be locked away, however, takes hypocrisy to a head-spinning level.

I am thinking no.
