Subby, the guy is 60... I think he's in a position to choose what he wants to do at this point.

Plant has said for years that he couldn't see touring with Page and JPJ and another drummer as Led Zeppelin. It's over, let it go.

Besides, Alison Krause is a way cuter tour partner.

Pretty much this. Which face would YOU rather look at for days on end, that one or this one?

There's only so many times that you can molest a girl with seafood before it becomes old hat.

i saw plant and krauss at the greek theater this summer. it was a brilliant show (except for the loud, drunk zep dickheads behind me talking all through the quiet songs). he obviously loves doing the roots/folk thing. why should he rehash the seventies when he can be doing this? he doesn't need the money.

and his voice simply won't hit those notes anymore. hell, he couldn't hit them in '79, let alone now. i don't blame him. if they said to page, "reform led zep, but you have to play the ukulele instead of the guitar," do you think he'd agree?

Plant admits he couldn't bring himself to go back to Led Zeppelin because he is working on such different music in his solo collaborations with Alison Krauss.

Yeah, wow, what a douchebag.

Good for you, Robbie.

Yeah, how dare an artist show integrity and want to focus on his current body of work instead of cashing in on a decades-old past.

The Smashing Pumpkins are going through this right now. Fans want to hear Today and Bullet With Butterfly Wings all the time. They keep putting out new music that is good for them regardless of what the masses think.

The fact is, the band you knew and loved is not the same any more and don't care that you are trying to relive your high school fantasies.

In Led Zeppelin's case, they lost it many years ago and it is evidenced quite clearly in their shows past about 1976.

Maybe Robert Plant just doesn't like hanging out with pedophiles anymore.

We need to assassinate Allison Krauss, take away the distraction.

I didn't read that as "inseminate" Allison Krauss, but I wanted to.

According to the video in the link, Plant had a "change of heart" and will be touring with Zeppelin.

That bastard needs to get his balls back and do one last hurrah. There are so many people out there (including myself) who are huge Zepp fans that have never had the chance to see them. They are able; he should do it "for the fans" if nothing else.

There is reason for them to get back together. Buy the DVD if you want to see them live.

Saw Plant and Page in the late 90's. They still could hammer it out, but Plant looked like a withered old British hag. Hoped someone would throw him a witches hat.

Donaco 2008-12-22 06:13:25 PM
I think he's got integrity. He loves his new music and he doesn't want to hear everybody slagging him for trying to sing notes he can't reach anymore.

I'd take a bullet for Alison. I'd do the whole Kevin Cosner bodyguard thing for her as well. No charge.

so by your logic the pumpkins lost it around '99. yeah, that's about right.

come on subby... by all accounts, Plant AND Page are both douchebags for their treatment of poor John Paul Jones.

/yes... i read Hammer of the Gods.

abraxasblue 2008-12-22 07:54:39 PM
just because he's enjoying what he's doing and not wanting to do a we're only in it for the money Tour doesnt make the guy wrong.

/doesnt give a damn what subby thinks

Can't he be doing the right thing AND be a douchebag?

KoybayashiMaru 2008-12-22 08:16:37 PM
I'm a fan, but their live stuff borders on unbearable. I am sure much of that has to do with drugs, but drugs had a lot to do with Robert hitting them high notes, and a lot of why he can't hit them now.

/It's the cosmic energy! Everybody goes 'Yyaaaayyyy BASH!!'

1. Even if you see them now, you've still never seen them. Hell, I'd be right there at the show with you, but it won't be like it was. It's not a bad thing to turn the page.
2. He owes the fans nothing. He has recorded for nearly 40 years and done hundreds of shows "for the fans". In return, they have made him a wealthy man. I think his debts to the fans (and vice versa) are squared by now.

I was at that show as well. It sounds like I was sitting right next to you. I had a couple of drunk dudes sitting behind me who seemed to be surprised it wasnt a Zep concert.

Great show, I would love to see them do one last tour, but at this point, good for Plant for saying no.

Just because Plant is doing something he wants to do doesn't make him a douchebag.

I for one applaud Plant for wanting to go in his own direction. He's making good music once again, and seems to be proving that not only can he kick ass with Zeppelin, he can kick ass on his own.

Well fine then. Do that, just get that Yoko wannabe away from Plant!

As for not being able to hit the notes he used to... I think Zep played their reunion show tuned down a whole step iirc.

Hell, I think some of their darker stuff would sound amazing tuned down a whole step. Dazed & Confused, No Quarter...

Olympus Mons 2008-12-23 10:04:10 AM
Led Zeppelin I will always be thankful for. But the past is the past. Plant is cool with me with Alison Krause too. Grow up boys and girls. Life has moved on. You want a reunion...no one owes you one. Put on a CD. This isn't the Rolling Stone milking it to death. They will thank Plant later. Page and Jones have enough talent to move on

bigbadideasinaction 2008-12-23 10:33:17 AM
I love Zep.

But bringing them back on tour won't make you any younger subby. Nor will it mean you get to relive the days of your youth.

Let it go, find some bands currently on tour and deal with being "The Old Guy" in the crowd.

Purity Of Essence 2008-12-24 12:39:26 PM
Led Zeppelin is my favorite rock band ever, and it kills me I never got to see them live, but even if Plant was on-board I'd be against this tour. Led Zeppelin is finished and has been since John Bonham's death. They know it and disbanded the group because of it. It needs to stay that way. I'd much rather see Led Zeppelin cash in with Guitar Hero or Rock Band games than this half-assed tour idea.
