I don't often read articles that quote Cheney directly, but when I do, a chill runs down my spine. I also think of something regarding a, "fully armed and operational battle station."

That man is a real life Palpatine, and I hope he is met at his future home with hand cuffs and a paddy wagon.

By saying this, '"I was a Rumsfeld man," Cheney said. "I'd helped recruit him and I thought he did a good job for us,"' he has basically admitted to hating this country and that he is doing his best to bring us into war. Simply amazing.

Why waste a nuke? Let's put more bomb-makers to work and go all out on a country we can conventionally wipe off the map.

we could always invade France again. But this time I think they'll make us keep it.

Also, Rumsfeld was just following orders anyways.

Just thought I should include that.

I could use a France.

If we bomb the fark out of Scandavia and the Balkans we could kinda make Europe look like an AT-AT.

For a while I couldn't decide whether Cheney was primarily deluded, or primarily an arrogant dick. I guess I'll have to call it a tie.

No no no no NO!

We will NOT bomb a region that provides us with the likes of this:
Sweden:

Norway:

Denmark:

The Balkans? F*ck 'em. It's a sh*thole.

Psh, only if the Chinese start writing them.
I think America will come out on top, and our history books will remember them as hard men making hard choices during hard times, primarily because all this stuff will be on the future version of the internet, which I predict will have even more porn, so history will be reduced to the future equivalent of animutation porn.

He also ridiculed Biden for mistakenly citing Article I of the U.S. Constitution, rather than Article II, in talking about executive branch powers during an October debate.

This is rich coming from a man who declared himself to be part of the executive and legislative branches when it suited him.

What it all comes down to is that the President and Vice-President were and are basically able to get away with whatever they want and have not thus far faced any judicial repercussions. Of course he's acting smug, why shouldn't he? He got away with everything!

Good. I wish Cheney's health had been better. The man is very bright and he sounds like your father telling you when you have been stupid. Fred Thompson is the same way. Either one would have beena great President. Jeb probably would have been 3 times better than his brother and 6 times better than his father, old poppy wishy washy.

Ok Cheney. You have been sworn to uphold the Constitution. A possible illegal alien has been selected and he is for sure not natural born. Are you or any Republicans going to say anything when it comes time to confirm the MSM "selection"? Will you uphold the Constitution because SCOTUS sure as hell probably will not. I think Thomas and Scalia have the guts.

Dittos to that. The first time I remember seeing Dick Cheney was on C-Span,many, many years ago. He was speaking to some group without notes and I remember saying to my husband that this guy really has IT. He was so cool and didn't need a script. I fell in love with him that night. I hate what the media has done to this wonderful man.

I like in the interview where Cheney lists us taking out the number one Al Qaeda guy in Iraq as an accomplishment of the administration while totally ignoring the point that there was no effective Al Qaeda in Iraq before he and Bush cleared the ground for them to be there.

"I hit that guy over the head with a club while he was walking down the street. But I'm a great guy because I helped him up and called 911 after I bashed his brains out."

bobbette [TotalFark] 2008-12-21 07:26:06 PM
I watched the interview this AM, and when he talked about how Bush carried around the nuclear codes and could have launched a strike anytime regardless of what Congress or anyone in America thought, Cheney sounded almost wistful. Like he really regretted not being able to just farking nuke the shiat out of something just as a final "fark you" to Congress.

I also believe he's the only one left who still supports Rummy 100%, at least in public. Everyone else has sort of let Rumsfeld be the fall guy (and indeed, he deserves all of that flak and probably more.)

I'm trying to decide whether it's Cheney or Eggen who is the scarily misinformed dumbass after reading this paragraph:

{Cheney} said that all U.S. presidents since 1973 have viewed the War Powers Act -- which gave Congress the role of declaring war -- as unconstitutional. He noted that the president is accompanied at all times by a military aide carrying the nuclear "football" allowing the launching of nuclear strikes.

actually the thing that gave Congress the power to declare was a little something called Article I sec 8 of the US Constitution

Sorta...I think it's the columnist who's confused however. I believe Cheney was referring to Article 2 sec 2 which declares the President as CinC....which lets the president respond to a direct threat. Which if you've noticed over the last eight years, has taken something of a redefinition under his reign. Cheney probably referred to the War Powers act, and the reporter or his research assistant must have pointed out the Congress thing without realizing the context Cheney was going for.

/either way...I'm a lot happier knowing those nuclear codes are getting changed in a little under a month.

And in the words of the founder of the Freepers, they're "I'm biased toward God, country, family, liberty and freedom and against liberalism, socialism, anarchism, wackoism, global balonyism and any other form of tyranny."

There's no reason to go there period unless you're mocking idiots.
