Apparently, someone choosing to move to Wisconsin constitutes a big news story up there.

If the trend continues, we might need a Wisconsin tag soon

I did the same thing this year.. haha!
I was in Orlando though, which did suck.
Now I'm in Central WI, and it's -9... yeah..

The cold aint that bad, you just gotta have a lot of antifreeze. Like Jack, Jim, and the Capt.

We have to keep a thread near the top where everyone can piss and moan about the cold in their locality and the total break down of Global Warming.

GSD4Ever 2008-12-21 03:26:18 PM
Yeah. It's friggin cold here.

Wind gusts, drifting snow, more on the way and it's friggin cold. Did I say it's friggin cold?

According to yahoo it's -1.

I was out clearing out my car and that wind is no joke.

"We like the snow, but we don't like the cold," said Steve Kinsley, of Orlando, Fla. "We spent months, literally months, researching where we were going to go."

I suppose none of this research involved even one click on accuweather.com .

My mom: "I'm from Milwaukee, and that's not funny!"

Don't forget the 40-50mph winds. They make that cold stick.

I can't take my garbage out today because my doors are frozen shut. If there's a fire, I'm farked.

I once moved from Big Indian, New York to New Jersey. I dont think there was an article written about it, but it happened.

Aulus [TotalFark] 2008-12-21 03:31:21 PM
My family moved from Florida to Marlette, MI when my brother and I were in college and our sister was in high school. After a year there, they moved to Iowa.

It helped that in Michigan, they were living in a big, fancy house with a heated garage, Seeburg music system piped into each room, huge yard with a pond with an island in it and ducks. Oh, an indoor half court basketball court. Little sister had a lot of friends in high school that year.

/not "friends" that way, you sickos
//they were all scared shiatless of Dad
///that was the year Dad beat Alex Karras in arm wrestling
////Karras was still playing for Detroit then
//more slashies for the hell of it.

Well, see... you'll get a laugh outta this... Daddy worked for Ford Australia and was promoted to WHQ here in good ol' Michigan. Being 13, I didn't have a whole lot of say in the matter.

That was 10 years ago.

Today, I waded through waist-high snowmounds to get from my apartment to my car, then inched along unplowed suburban roads to get to work. The back door to work was frozen shut, so I stood around in the mind-numbing cold until we got it open. The trip home wasn't much better.

I miss Sydney, though I didn't live there long - was born in RPA, then we moved to Wollongong and then Melbourne.

There is at least one good reason to move to Wisconsin.

/stuck in Mississippi

Kickstart UF [TotalFark] 2008-12-21 03:33:33 PM
This is news of some sort? I expected them to die in a moving van stuck on the side of the highway or something.

It's colder here than in Wisconsin, and I came in to work during quiet hours (downing the Novell master replica server...yay!).

Bohemian 2008-12-21 03:33:47 PM
The culture shock of people who move from somewhere warm to the hellish north are amusing their first winter. They think places like South Dakota are like an Andy Williams Christmas special in the winter. In reality it is like living at some polar ice station for three months out of the year.

I would still rather deal with the crappy weather than bloated house prices and gangs.

I'm guessing it was green-lighted because of the absurdity of what constitutes news.

How are they going fall asleep at night without the the peacefully lulling sound of gunfire?

Orlando residents whining about hurricanes in 2004 and 2005? What, did they lose power for a few hours?

Yeah, right. Florida is a better place without these idiots.

Winters are ok in Florida. Right now we've got highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s. Summers aren't so great. It rains all the time and still manages to get hotter than the surface of the sun. Add the occasional hurricane just for fun...

It's chilly here in Tampa today, too. Only about 75 degrees. Fark you Northerners. I hope these blowhards took 40 or 50 of their nut case friends with them.

Orlando, besides being home to The Mouse, is also home to the largest collection of right wing religious whack jobs in the world. Most of the religious radio programming in America, where they demand that widows send them their last nickle, comes from Orlando. So have fun with this set of nut cases, Wisconsin.

And don't come back.

"The family says it is well-equipped for crazy weather."...
said The Family, which speaks as one voice made of many, borg-like but unliving, objectified by the harsh Wisconsin grammar. "The grammar is...so cold...so uncaring," it said.

I went from Orlando to Phoenix.

Phoenix is worse. "Oh but it's a dry heat." Yea, turn your oven on to 125 and stick your head in there buddy. I'll take the humidity any day, any time. 125 = your brain cooking inside your skull. Having my car melt from the inside out wasn't good either.

Hanging out in Alaska now and getting a kick.

For anyone who thinks this is bull crap, please, go work in a steel mill. I used to work at one for a college summer job, and, by golly, it's a hell of alot better when it's 145 in the air, and any sweat is evaporating, compared to the awful 95 degree 90% humidity air that is outdoors in Wisconsin.

/ps. Floridiots, go home. it's nice here. go away.

Greetings from Fla. But not from me of course.

Well I live in Minnesota, and I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

Seriously, while I don't like the extreme cold, if you know how to dress for it, it's not that darn bad. The trick is driving in the snow and staying away from the morons who think because they have an SUV they can drive like bat out of hell.
