I'll bet a lot of formerly rich and snooty people are feeling a bit more kindly towards the poor and homeless these days.

If only Gov. Patterson could find a way to tax churches and the homeless.

Just because they are homeless does not mean they are sane. But of course we run into the right to freely assemble, freedom of religion and etc.

Ah, the wonderful "NIMBY" mentality. It's a place for the homeless to get warm, not to be trained on how to overpower your teenage daughter.

I can't decide if you're obvious troll, or just really farking funny. Either way, I lol'd.

As I understand it

Headline: City of Middletown says warming station in church breaks zoning laws.

Article: If Middletown tries to do anything, they're in violation of federal law.

FTFY. Due to several factors, I was homeless for about 2 years. Anyone can wind up in that situation sane or not.

Farking liberals. How would you like to try to sell your home next door to a church while a bunch of homeless are hanging around? Perhaps the church should rent a place downtown for the homeless.

If you can't work your self out of homelessness in two years then you are choosing to stay homeless.
Also if the pics in your profile are really you I call bullshiat, there is always someone that will let a semi-attractive female live with them.
Living on someones couch is not the same as being homeless.

And what should the way I look have anything to do with my being homeless or not? Are you proposing that I should have prostituted myself for a place to live? I guess I missed it. Actually, one of the shelters I stayed at was mostly made up of middle-age working class people who lost their homes because they were laid off. Several families were there as well.

Wow, well you do sound stupid enough to not be able to work yourself out of being homeless for two years.
I am saying that "decent" looking people will usually find someone to help them faster than a toothless smelly person, but judging from your biatch attitude I guess I understand why no one wanted you living with them til you got back on your feet.
If you cant get a job at McDonalds and get a cheap apartment in two years then you are lazy, stupid or both.
Now go ahead and give a list of excuses why you couldn't but just remember as you are writing then they are just that......"excuses".

/maybe if you would have EABOD you wouldn't have been homeless.

Dude, I don't know what your major malfunction is, but seriously answer this: Have you ever been homeless? How about any of your friends or family? I really wouldn't have gotten all biatchy at you had you not said that it was my fault that I was homeless for 2 years instead of 2 months. I don't give excuses for why I was homeless, because I don't feel the need to justify myself to some jackass on the interwebs. Let me just say that you weren't there, you didn't go through it, therefore you have no right whatsoever to judge me. I probably could have whored myself out fr a place to sleep and a decent meal, but for some reason that's just wrong to me(go figure). Anyway, you lose everything all at once and then claw your way back up and then we'll talk. Until then you need to back off on acting like homelessness is an easy situation to rectify, kthxbai.

See this is where your logic fails. Did it ever occur to you that employers might not want to hire someone that's homeless?

Once again you are trying to change what I said. If you think giving sex to someone is the only reason anyone would want to be around you then you must be a sad little person.

And if you must know I was homeless at 17. I lived in a car and took showers at the school in the morning. I got a evening job at Ponderosa (local steak house)and within 5 weeks had an apartment(crappy but mine). I also finished high school during this time.
Am I special? No I just really didn't want to be homeless so I did something about it.

I am truly happy for you. Honestly though, it's not like I didn't try, I did. I tried hard. I applied for jobs everywhere, but I was told repeatedly that if I wasn't stable enough to have a home then they couldn't trust me to be stable enough to work for them. Also, it didn't help that I didn't have a car to get me to work and back. I apologize for misinterpreting your previous statement, but it honestly did seem like you were referring to trading sex for shelter. My bad.

I think most people would learn a lot from the experience, things like humility and thankfulness for starters.

But I didn't mind it so much because I'm nomadic by nature, so not having a home wasn't so bad, I've slept in a lot worse places than the back of an Aerostar, and I had a job but it takes a while to save up for an apartment, and when I finally got that apartment it wasn't much bigger than the van I was living in.

I think for me, the biggest change is that I'm much more patient with people, friends and family and strangers alike. A lot of things people do or say used to bug the shiat out of me, but those same things don't even register with me anymore. I find I enjoy being around people more now than ever and I certainly don't take for granting everyday things like running water, electricity, and a private space where I can jerk off.

Honestly, I'm surprised the city doesn't just drive by with a paddy wagon on a regular basis, pick up the bums and drop them off at the city limits with a warning that re-entering the city will result in much harsher treatment. Vagrancy is a crime after all so it's not like they don't have an excuse they can use. Resistance is of course a stacker charge. All it costs them is a little gas and the time it takes the brown shirts to kick the door in, drag them out, and drop them off. The church will get the message that harboring criminals won't be tolerated and the city's bum population drops. Middletown wins.

/just for any trolls out there, yes I'm being factious.
