I see what you did there.

The Nazis had a flair for design, I'll give 'em that.

That's just a damn shame, the Spitfire was a beautiful airplane.

/no snark

doglover [TotalFark] 2008-12-21 01:52:56 AM
I'd bet in countries that aren't the UK, Nazi planes would outsell most designs. Their tanks certainly do.

The Germans just designed better looking equipment; I don't see anyone arguing with that.
/the Spitfire was pretty, though.
//and the Mustang.

I have a feeling that things like this will become more and more common as fewer and fewer people feel personally connected to WWII. The war will be nothing more than history to most. The transition will be completed when the toothbrush mustache becomes fashionable once again.

Enough of this Blitzkrieg, if you dont have something intelligent to say the HEIL HITLER off.

Yeah, it's one of those things that was talked about a few weeks back on the "Hitler had one testicle" link here on Fark. Everything related to the Nazis is described as terrible in ways it often wasn't. Hitler really was a good painter (maybe not "Vienna Master", but not bad) and a lot of German designs were more stylish or just plain superior.

But since they were also as evil as the day is long, our primitive mind demands we hate EVERYTHING about them, so as to better hate and fight against what they stood for.

Great, so Hitler ruined the toothbrush mustache for everyone? What about extermination of the joos and carpet bombing the Brits? Is that off limits to the rest of us also?

That just makes the RAF look better. Like an underdog. I tell you, though, when these model planes go to battle, our boys will give them what for!

The general public seem to have a fascination with the 3rd Reich in general. I would tell you there is a legit reason for it, but it would be dismissed as something fanciful or malignant.

We traded one empire for another in those 20th Century wars. Instead of Arian's at the helm we get Zionists.

That's right, I went there.

My father used to have a large model of the Enola Gay, he kept it in his company's conference room. One day, he had some potential clients in from Japan, in the conference room.

One of them says "Oh, you rike build airpranes?"

"Oh yeah," says my dad, "But this one is special. Here," he says, lifting up the plane above their heads, showing that the bomb bay door is open and "Fat Man" is in the bomb bay, "You might know it better from this angle."

Or it could also be that aircraft enthusiasts' interest in these machines goes above and beyond political and social concerns...

The Luftwaffe has some amazing examples of engineering in their arsenal. As to the guy who posted the P-51 pic...sorry, that thing was chicken-sh*t compared to what the Germans were putting up by the end of the war.
