Hoot!

301 million.

They still got it too, I went to one of the closing week shows at CBGBs and while I could have done without the boot to the face shiner I walked out with, it was completely worth it. It was transcendent.

That would be the greatest inauguration ever.

I don't think it's possible to see them and not walk away with such an injury.

(ask me about my broken clavicle!)

Too bad they, as a bunch of flaming homophobes, hate me personally.

/Oh, I still go see 'em, mind you.

If they wanted to get a group of homophobes to play awful music horribly, wouldn't it just be cheaper to get a bunch of country music stars?

Ummmm. How about no.

Too bad they were never actually banned in D.C.

Fail.

The group is named "300 million strong to get Bad Brains to play Obama's inauguration", but only has 10,237 members.

They have a little ways to go.

That would be awesome if it didn't sound like their instruments were taking a dump on their amplifiers.

Am I really the first one to tell subby to RTFA?

Do people even read what they're writing when they submit headlines?

The weight of the facepalm from the 300 million number is only lighter than the facepalm from people that think 300 Million + 1 = 301Million

Hoot! I didn't even catch that as I am completely exhausted.

I probably should be leaving the interwebby now but I have a pretty high shame level so I won't flee. That was a bit embarassing. Oh well, I forgive myself.

So the healing begins.

See I meant high shame threshhold. Let's see how deep a hole I can dig.

Again, I forgive myself.

That would be awesome but only if they blew up the Capital Building afterwards. HR cant sing anymore either so I dont know how well it would go over.

Yeah, this completely makes sense! Obama is soooo anti-establishment. That's why his administration is going to be full of ex-Fed chairmen and Goldman Sachs guys. He was a cheerleader for the bailout and he voted for FISA. What a champion of the people!

He is just another pile of shiat in a suit.

You lack the audacious hopefulness of change. You need to be re-educated.

ok few things first off to the charge of Bad Brains being homophobes read this http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/interviews/interviews/darryl_jenifer_of_bad_brain s_i_want_to_be_the_soldier_of_my_music.html

To those who rip on the Bad Brains music do you have any idea how they changed punk/hardcore any? For god sake these guys were earth shattering good. I recently got to see them again and if anything they have gotten better with age.

The Big Takeover for real.

vitustinnitus 2008-12-20 02:40:02 AM
they were good in the day, but HR has drugged himself into such a stupor to where he can't perform. anyone who was at this year's fun fun fun fest bore witness to that.

I saw them play here (DC) on Election Night, and I have never gone away from a show so disappointed. The band was good and still just as awesome as ever, but HR sucked and ruined the show. He started "singing" the Big Takeover during Banned in DC, he would blow kisses to the audience with both hands between songs while saying, "I love you all." He was just generally a cracked out mess, and when they were done the lights came up immediately and there was obviously not going to be any kind of encore. That being said the rest of the guys were tip top and played amazing.

"I Against I" was a great album. Then I saw them live on a DVD. It was thoroughly horrible.

I would think having Kanye West perform would likely create a massive swirly vortex of suck that would endanger the capitol. Plus, Kanye's staggeringly stupid, and the dumb could rub off.

Mavis Staples = A national treasure. A fantastic and dignified choice.
Wilco = Great band.
Kanye West = Positively godawful.

I'm actually old enough to remember when people went to shows for the music and the moshing without having to beat the crap of each other.

/No one got hurt at the Bad Brains shows I went to in the 1980s, and everyone slammed relentlessly and had a great time.

I want zombie Warren Zevon. Or living Warren Zevon, who has fooled us all by disguising himself as Rick Derringer this whole time.
