While I did hear about the Supreme Court decision on the radio, TFA doesn't say anything about it that I can find. Did it change after the headline was written? Did submitter not read TFA? Did anybody really think the court was going to preempt the legislature on such a clearly political question? (Yeah, I'm calling you a dumbass whoever asked for court intervention.)

Excellent way of summing up the article in just two sentences. +1

/"Illinois Supreme Court: Your a idiot, GTFO" would also have been acceptable.

Hey biatch, we have a constitution for a reason.

He should either step down or suffer impeachment. The court has no right to declare him unfit; he was already signing bills this week since coming back on the job.

It would be the cheapest way to do it. And an impeachment or special election will cost Millions.

I'm not happy with sacrificing the air of legitimacy for the benefit of expediency. I know he's crooked, so do you, but if we want to act like a nation of laws then we need to do it right so other people can't be strung up and ruined so easily for different (political) reasons. It's doing the right thing now that will save us from having terrible precedent next time you have opposing parties in different government offices.

Cute. And, sadly, rather apt.

Man, ain't this dude just like a bad penny? Why on earth won't he just go away? That's what I don't understand. Caught (for the most part) red-handed, everyone's after his arse and he just refuses to admit he was being a criminal douchebag.

It's a pity that we almost accept corruption as the cost of doing business these days. We really put up with some disgraceful farking shiat.

It was worth a shot. The stupid rod isn't going to step down, and god knows how long impeachment will take.

Of course, impeachment hearings should be funny. I mean, most of the Dems in the state houses already didn't like him, let alone the Republicans.

He can negotiate from a position of power (giving up his Governorship) to get a reduced sentence from prosecutors.

However, this dumbass has Patrick freakin' Fitzgerald after him. The guy won't deal unless his evidence is shoddy (it doesn't look like it is).

The only out Blojobovich has is to go on live tv, cry and apologize, then immediately resign. Fitzgerald might expedite the case and go for less time if he did that.

I would think utter shame would be a powerful motivator, but that doesn't seem to be the case with this chump. Meh. With hair like that, hanging on to human dignity does seem to be a lost cause.

I love my home state, and I'm proud to be an Illinoisan. In my field, when people ask me where I'm from, I truthfully answer "Chicago," and they nod with approval.

But damn if I'm not elated to be watching this clusterfark from another state.

/Not that California is without its own clusterfarks.
//But for those, I can laugh and say I'm not from here.

Mercutio74 2008-12-17 06:37:45 PM
Blago's been planning this ever since he was pinched. Why would he not step down? Because he plans on holding the governorship hostage in exchange for a decent deal on jail time.

Public humiliation may have worked a few decades ago, but now-a-days this kind of thing will be forgotten the moment some other politician gets caught doing something stupid. Which, as things progress is starting to happen on an increasingly rapid frequency.

Given that the state constitution includes a process for the governor to lose power due to disability, it was worth a try. Especially since by going to the court she essentially was following due process (rather than just issuing a press release that Quinn is now in charge).

That may be a result of his deluded thought processes.

I don't see the American public accepting this as just business as usual. Neither will his opponents/detractors/enemies.

Is it right to say he's incapable of being governor? No.

No, no. None of that. Just that he's rather unbelievable in defying Illioisers (?) for the sake of holding on to power. It's just vulgar coming from someone who is supposed to serve the public.

Yes, let the process run itself out. He's just turning into a cartoon figure of what's wrong in the system.
