You know, Bush could show he's got some decency in him by making a personal request that the man be released without charges.

Talk about sabotage

All in all, one of my favorite Beastie Boys tracks. I also think that Spike Jonze knocked it out of the ball park with the video.

Wish I could re-caption that with "I see what you did there, submitter." It would go better with the pic

I wish I could figure out what's going to happen in Iraqi parliamentary politics next, but my crystal ball ain't so crystal clear.

Man, that Bush guy turns Iraq to sh*t every time he looks at the place!

JohnnyC 2008-12-17 03:19:41 PM
This should be Bush's thing. Like wherever he goes, people throw their shoes at him. Seems appropriate. As for the Iraqi government, it's about as legitimate as the Iraq war was.

Talk about sabotage

"Sabotage" is a 1994 song by the American hip hop group Beastie Boys. It appears on their album Ill Communication. The song's style is characterized as rapcore, featuring traditional rock instrumentation (Adrock on guitar, MCA on bass, and Mike D. on drums), turntable scratches and heavily distorted bass guitar riffs.

In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked "Sabotage" #475 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In March 2005, Q magazine placed it at number 46 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks.

The song is a playable track for both the video games Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and Rock Band.

It is also the theme tune to BBC Radio Five Live's Sports comedy panel show Fighting Talk.

The song's main riff heavily resembles that of The Stooges "Penetration" from Raw Power.

The reporter who threw his shoes at Bush has sparked a poltical crisis in Iraq

What, pray-tell, is a "poltical" crisis?

ZAZ [TotalFark] 2008-12-17 04:55:39 PM
They could let Bush throw a pair of shoes at the reporter and call it even.

In America, or my part of America, he'd be looking at potentially much more than two years. Prosecutors would call the shoe a "dangerous weapon" raising misdemeanor assault to felony assault. There might be federal charges of assault on a federally protected diplomat too -- the equivalent of the "insulting" charge.

But really it should be treated as simple assault and disturbing the peace. Accept a guilty plea to that and sentence the guy to time served (and injury served).

It was entirely disrespectful for the reporter to throw a shoe at Bush. I mean would he throw a shoe at Obama. This was on the same level of disrespectfulness as Jesus being nailed to the cross.

Funny. Listen to the neocons and we have already achieved "victory" in our mission to bring "freedom" to Iraq.
