Yeah, that's gonna happen, I'm so sure.

I'd imagine there'd be a few left there in Baghdad, but most of them are probably off to Afghanistan.

There will always be local prostitutes. The troops will just be out of those local prostitutes.

The troops or the prostitutes?

This actually may be one of the first conflicts in history where there were NOT local prostitutes.

I discussed this with an intelligence officer recently returned from Iraq. Who told me... "Well.. YES.. but we also have recon video of insurgents humping a donkey... so don't read any 'high moral society standards ' into that.

Thanks GB, the war is won, now we have a friend in the Middle East to work and trade with, and one that is not shooting at our aircraft.

Mission Accomplished

Perhaps there were just women willing to get married for an hour or so. Probably didn't apply to Westerners, though. As far as the insurgents go, did you see how the donkey was dressed? She was totally asking for it.

'Bout time they let the terrorists win.

Who are the liberals going to blame if the troop withdrawal (US and British forces) causes Iraq to become destabilized and a civil war erupts, or a terrorist regime takes control of the Iraq government?

Liberals seem to be incapable of looking at the big picture because they allow their emotions to cloud their judgment.

As opposed to conservatives? Didn't we hear that we would be greeted as liberators?....and I seem to remember something about our presence causing said terrorist regimes to become powerful or in some cases, move to Iraq.

Where was this "look at the big picture" mindset back in 2001-2003 while you were all so dead set on going to war in the first place?

My friend actually recorded that video. It's his NCO talking.

It's halarious, and probabaly the best thing to come out of the war.

Man, that's funny but at the same time very, very sad. At least with the first war with Iraq the best thing we got were desert storm trading cards.

I don't know maybe the idiots who invaded and destabilised it in the first place?

The idiots who thought that invading would be a good idea, and then mismanaged the calamity from beginning to end.

If there's only 4100 troops there, they should have gotten out ages ago. Comparing the amount of aid those troops give to the "coalition" to the amount of political ill will their presence generates in the Islamic world... it's a no brainer.

Oh Mercutio always giving in to terrorists, heh. I see your point, but the troops were left in place to support their American ally and keep relations good. Now that the United States signed their withdrawal agreement, Britain is free to do so.

They represent what, 2% of the 'coalition' at this point? I fail to see why the British public even cares aside from 'sticking it' to Bush at this point. Violence is down and their commitment is puny.

Because they're worn out, costing us a fortune and shouldn't have been sent there in the first place. "Sticking it to Bush" has fark all to do with it. As for their "puny committment", f*ck you, buddy.

A fortune? How much do 4100 combat troops cost? You haven't spent a 'fortune' in Iraq, well, ever. That's been our stupid asses.

4000 troops in country means have at least four times as many back at home, waiting to be rotated in. The Iraqis have been in control of Basara for over a year now, while the British have kept to a base outside the city. If they don't need to be there anymore then they should come home.

You should be happy the war is finally winding down.

We never had the political will to begin with, unlike the US where there were at least a few sparse fanfares of enthusiasm right at the beginning. Furthermore, our forces are smaller relatively as well as absolutely (The US Marine Corps is about the same size as the entire British armed forces) because our budget is proportionally smaller. We've also underfunded our military for decades and the neglect is biting us in the arse.

Too big of a coincidence. I bet one of you is paid by the US military to propagandize message boards. The US military has the largest public relations departments in the world, after all. All the Communications and Pop Culture degrees gotta be put to effective use.

That.

And the numbers have only dwindled fairly recently. We did send in about 45k men in the invasion - just remember how many fewer men under arms we have than the US. That 45k represents about a quarter of our overall strength. The US sent in, what 250k? Out of ~1.5million? It wasn't a puny commitment - it was pretty farking big, considering how unpopular the war was.

Because the south is relatively stable and compared to the total area the US are deployed the area of responsibility that the UK operate in is also small and the other coalition troops are deployed in the same area....Plus the UK army are better than yours.

heavymetal [TotalFark] 2008-12-17 05:02:55 PM
I'm glad the U.S. finally signed a withdrawel agreement too. I really don't see an issue with it unstabilizing Iraq. Even without the U.S. or Britain I am sure the troops from rest of the coalition of nations who are fighting with over there can take up the slack. Besides things are going great there and the insurgents were in their last throes years ago. All should be fine.

/ You know, that massive coalition of the willing Bush formed for the invasion.
