An article on the Internet about how writing articles on the Internet about Sarah Palin will drive traffic to your page.

Infinite regress, here we come.

She's the George Bush of female republican politics. Actually she's likely dumber than he is.

At least Bush has experience outside a backwater, what with being friends with the bin Ladens and all.

Maybe throw in a few more schools and give her about 6 years and she might, just might, get a very useful degree for a future in politics.

I'm proud to say I don't, and I identify as a somewhat rational conservative.

Fully embracing the religious nutters has been the death knell of modern conservatism, and frankly, it's embarassing. The political expediency gained by being able to take one stance on an issue and have a ready-made voting block isn't worth the pure insanity they bring to the legislative table.

Frankly, I don't really give a shiat if two guys or two gals are in a stable, happy relationship, and I think making birth control and planned parenthood services are one of the most effective ways to cut down on welfare abuse. I'm not about to go watch a pride parade where two oily men clad in naught but some leather straps flog each other, but that's why we have California - so we have a place where that kind of shiat is acceptable.

Nothing drives web traffic like a mention of Sarah Palin

Because, there's no hate like Kos hate.

Now, it's great to watch the NE snobs that whined the loudest about Palin try to make Caroline Kennedy a Senator just because her name is Kennedy.

Also great to see Biden, who was chosen for his experience, caged up and placed in a corner.

1/2 of the population clicks Palin stories to see if she's gaining political ground.

The other 1/2 clicks Palin links to see if she was mysteriously doused in barbeque sauce and dropped in the starving carnivore exhibit.

There is no middle ground. You are either in the first group or the second.

Yes, you are technically correct. But if I may analyze...

From Your Farking Article:

"Listen I have the greatest appreciation for Gov. Palin and her family and it was a great joy to know them," McCain said. "She invigorated our campaign and she was just down in Georgia and she invigorated their campaign."

To me invigorated is an interesting choice. Though the connotation is that she "helped" he didn't actually say that she added anything. An energized base could be the full value of her "invigoration", but guess what... it's the base, they'd already vote for the GOP.

"But I can't say something like that," McCain said, "We've got some great other young governors."

In other words... "This is not the presidential candidate you're looking for".

"Have no doubt of my admiration and respect for her and her viability," McCain said, "but at this stage my corpse is still warm!"

That's faint praise indeed. How about something like, "I think she'd make an excellent presidential candidate in '12.

Also, consider... McCain is not going to be running in '12. He's considered old NOW. He'll be positively ancient in 4 years (and then, if elected, he has to survive another 4 in an extremely high-stress environment... not likely). So if he's not protecting his own ability to be a candidate, why would he refuse to say even one direct comment about how she'd be a good choice for president, let alone a good serious candidate?

Liberals are just scared that the Republicans actually ran a real conservative on the VP ticket this year and might be willing to put one up for the Presidency next time. You can't compete against Real Conservatives, only RINOs like McBushCain because they are sellouts to the ideology.

He's been saying that "excite the base" stuff since before the election. That's his standard way of praising her. That might have something to do with the fact that McCain isn't all that popular with the base.

So if he's not protecting his own ability to be a candidate, why would he refuse to say even one direct comment about how she'd be a good choice for president, let alone a good serious candidate?

To be fair, the question asked focused on whether or not Palin could "count on" his support. I can see why he wouldn't want to commit to that.

They're evasive, but I didn't take them to be an insult to Palin. I took them to say "WTF, you want me make a commitment in the 2012 election a month after the 2008 election?"

I know you're just trolling Shaggy but there is some truth to this...

krelborne: They're evasive, but I didn't take them to be an insult to Palin. I took them to say "WTF, you want me make a commitment in the 2012 election a month after the 2008 election?"

That's certainly a possible explanation but the amount of dancing is excessive. If he was really concerned about the time frame something like, "4 years is an eternity in presidential politics and even though I feel that Sarah is a wonderful woman who'd make an excellent president, I'm not about to make a theoretical endorsement on a hypothetical race for a candidate who hasn't even announced she's running." Or something like that.

Instead, he attempted to say something nice about her political ability (and failed) and ended with a joke about his corpse.

Yeah, I'm probably over-analyzing this, but confused rhetoric like this is always very interesting to me... it's probably the closest the public gets to knowing what's actually going on in a career politician's head.
