Why do companies always seem to lay people off right before Christmas? Can't they wait a few weeks?

Typical gun-toting, violent Americans not dealing with the economic meltdown.

Is that Vancouver, Kansas?

"Banky was the CEO of TallGrass Distribution Ltd., a natural health products company."

Yeah the employees look real healthy. Probably selling that snake oil to idiots that bought kevin trudeau's book (the conviceted con-man felon that has had ZERO medical or alternative medicine study, makes up statistics and vague claims, and quotes articles and doctors that DONT EXIST).

I hope the CEO was a typical greedy jerk, laying off a shiatload of people so he could get a big bonus. Then we would know he deserved it.

How's that gun control working out for you Canada? I know all about it, having lived there for years and it was one of the primary reasons I came back to the US.

LowbrowDeluxe 2008-12-14 05:57:06 PM
A) Companies lay people off just before christmas so they know not to go out and buy 5,000 dollar plasma Tv's for christmas.

B) I'd still go with option C. It's better than firing them right after the holiday while they're saddled with debt, but fark it, it sucks either way.

C) It's always C.

Hey douchebag-it was just a job. You don't have to get all killy. Go out to the bar, swear about how much the boss sucked, take a shower, and clean up your resume.

Having been on both the giving end and receiving end of a layoff, I can tell you, it sucks either way. But C is never the answer.

Everyone I ever let go, and myself after it happened to me... we all got better jobs for more money within a few weeks after the fact.

Shoot (pun intended), some of us went on to start our own companies and one guy even hired his former boss to work for him!

Um, I'm gonna go with C

Simply on the reasoning if being told you were being laid off for budgetary reasons, then find out one week later that your former place of employment could afford to throw an Xmas party.
