As long as they keep hooking up with Clint Mansell, they can feud with whoever the heck they want.

This is "shoegazing" ??? :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_NrZCZwlhc

...or maybe subby is retarded. (he probably at least knows basic html though)

If that is "shoegazing" I suppose Chopin "Raindrop Prelude" is goth, huh?

exi 2008-12-14 06:37:59 PM
Crappy subby knows not of what he speaks.

FueledByEthanol 2008-12-14 07:01:37 PM
What is this? Mogwai's whole statement looks to be part of a poorly delivered Metalocalypse spoof.

craigdamage 2008-12-14 07:10:05 PM
I suspect Mogwai's sense of humor is over some heads.

I like both bands btw.

Mogwai's career is far from sagging.

Bhasayate [TotalFark] 2008-12-14 08:16:43 PM
Well, it worked for Oasis. Sort of.

kanesays 2008-12-14 08:24:51 PM
Subby wouldn't know shoegazing even if Kevin Shields kicked him in the ass.

That's what I thought too.

Mogwai are post-rock, not shoegaze. Labels, labels, kind of stupid, I know. But: Post-rock.

Sylvia_Bandersnatch 2008-12-14 10:50:38 PM
Yeah, that's gonna be a shoeing.

/best not to annoy the Blur fans

Love Mogwai

I would be able to form an opinion on Mogwai if I could ever make it through one of their songs without nodding off.

Subby is an ass and probably would classify Avril Lavigne as punk.

Come On Die Young is one of my favorite albums of the 90s.

b-but music is bigger than words and wider than pictures!

kanesays: Subby wouldn't know shoegazing even if Kevin Shields kicked him in the ass.

this, though Mogwai isn't too far from shoegaze. (See: Halycon 1)

it's all about Slowdive, Ride and Chapterhouse, the holy trinity of shoegazing

Some newer bands:
Asobi Seksu
Air Formation
Magnetic Morning
Ringo Deathstarr
Destroyalldreamers
A place to Bury Strangers

Ariel is my favorite new shoegazer group. They're incredible live.

Azz: it's all about Slowdive, Ride and Chapterhouse, the holy trinity of shoegazing

Slowdive is great, but I've never cared much for Ride and Chapterhouse was pretty boring. I thought Catherine Wheel and Swervedriver did the same thing as those two but much better.

my favorites (old and new):

- Medicine (way overlooked)
- Serena-maneesh
- Auburn Lull
- Lovesliescrushing
- Flying Saucer Attack (not shoegaze, per se. Close enough)

by the by, Loop reissued their first two albums this past month. They sound farking great.

I actually applaud subby on choice of headline. I assume highly flamy, boorish and ignorant in order to provoke Mogwai fans, is what he was going for.
/Or maybe he's just a butthurt Blur fan
/Here's another vid for your viewing pleasure

This would be mildly amusing if it weren't for the fact the Blur has never made anything as good as Young Team

AUBURN LULL! This band is so underrated it is infuriating.

If you dig on Auburn Lull, give July Skies a listen.

Bhasayate [TotalFark] 2008-12-15 02:35:14 PM
What about Mineral's "the white birch?"

Oh, Explosions in the Sky and Godspeed! You Black Emperor are so much more interesting than Mogwai, methinks.

I got "the Beast", on the recommendation that if I liked the other two, I'd like Mogwai. I said meh to that album.

But then, I can't stop listening to "All of the Sudden I miss Everyone" and "The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place"

Oh, and Sigur Ros is awesome.

Not bad, I made it all the way through. I guess they're not my thing though. I can sit enthralled through five minutes of instrumentals by Porcupine Tree, or even Ride, but this doesn't really grab me.

Haha I was going to post the same song. Definitely not a sleeper.

Ditto. We are outnumbered. Everybody hates that movie, and I'll even admit I laughed at the ending enlightenment moment. But I still loved it. And that soundtrack is one of the best ever made.

Total...utter...win.

If you can find it, grab the FSA/Tele:Funken CD, Distant Station. The first 20 minutes are about the greatest thing ever pressed on aluminum.

You ever heard SIANspheric or Mean Red Spiders? Two really decent Canadian shoegazing bands you might like if you're into FSA and Swervedriver.

yes, the first half is great stuff. one of the best ambient tracks ever.

Heard of the other two bands, but nothing by them. Will try it out.
