Seriously, if you have ever read a California Voter's pamphlet (or tried to) on the state propositions the title of this book speaks directly to you. I am sure there has been a number of state propositions that never would have passed but did, or did pass but wouldn't, if they had not been so misleadingly presented.

I'm just curious - I know that in NJ, the ballot propositions not only have the legalese, but they also have a somewhat simplified version of it on not only the sample ballot, but also on the machine itself. (Yeah, we use electronic machines. Not computers, per se, but membrane switches.)

Do they not have this in California? Or is the legal language so obscure that even the translation is a mass of gunk?
