I read about that when the story came out about them playing rock music all day long for the prisoners.

There are an awful lot of soldiers that want to listen to "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" while they're at combat. It's a great song for that, and for hockey games.

This reminds me, my Dad always said Ted Nugent's "Stranglehold" was played on a loop during the first Gulf War to demoralize Iraqis. I can't find any evidence of that on the intertubes, but I doubt the military would like that fact spreading around. And isn't hockey just honor combat with a puck involved for some reason?

Was I the only person that had a hard time reading that headline? Shouldn't it have been "Drowning Pool is honored that their music is being used...." I thought it was music that was honored by them or some shiat. I just couldn't make sense of it til I looked at the blurb.

Did anyone else from the Dallas area remember these guys performing live? I know I went to more than a few shows where DP opened for Big Iron or Pimpadelic etc etc, but I never walked away from any of their shows remembering anything that stood out about the band or the music.

bel4sucks: but I never walked away from any of their shows remembering anything that stood out about the band or the music.

Except that apparently, the singer had some kind of stage presence or the right hook-up, as he himself was a popular figure. Dimebag had a tattoo of him on his leg?. I never cared for DP, either, it just wasn't my thing, but for the people who could recognize its potential, I guess it was there.

And that goes for how I still feel about it. I don't care for their music, but I sure do appreciate what they do (or at least did) for soldiers overseas and for USO functions.

Yes.

These guys were down the hall from my band at Universal Rehearsal in Dallas.

I saw/heard them just about every single day.
Just like all the other bozos at that studio, they had all the right tattoos and piercings, image etc...but not any better or any more outstanding than any other poseur band there.

I do actually have a very embarrassing and quite un-flattering story about Dave Williams that also includes Dimebag from Pantera.

I wont reveal it completely as those two are highly regarded dead icons in these parts but I will at least tell the basic gist of the anecdote:

GIANT OVER INFLATED EGOS

That`s a really bad name for a band.

whatever happened to stickin' it to the man? heavy metalers fawning over soldiers? rock and roll is breathing its last gasps.
