Even if they DO find the evidence buried underneath the Boardwalk, you just know that the person responsible will have a Get Out of Jail Free Card.

Eddy Grant...on Electric Avenue...with a rock.

Dammit--it was Colonel Mustard with a candlestick in the conservatory. I suck at this game.

Well what did you expect down in the street there was violence and lots of work to be done. But,who is to blame in one country never can get to the one

"They did locate a male who had suffered what appears to to be a gunshot wound. He was treated on-scene by ambulance and fire department personnel, and unfortunately, expired."

Why can't cops speak English? He expired? Does that mean his meter ran out? Who says expired? He farking died.

Speak plain English or STFU.

We all thought of the 80's song first, who else thought of the electronics department at Monkey Ward?

Here's a bit of obscure trivia that most of you probably don't know: MTV used to be a music video channel.

/It stood for "Music Television."

I am planning a trip to London in May, as I have tickets to see The Specials. They are playing in Brixton, which, I found out today is what Eddy was singing about in Electric Avenue.

Yes, Nakito, now it stands for "Moron Television"

I have Electric Avenue and the Ring Bang Mix of Electronic Avenue on my iPod Nano.

The Electric Avenue in London is a narrow commercial street which was looted (I am guessing here) during the Brixton riots.

Here's a Wiki stub.

Here's a tourist site (map, hotels, things to do besides getting mugged, etc.):

http://www.londontown.com/LondonStreets/electric_avenue_26b.html

I can't find it at the mo' but I've seen a nice picture of Electric Avenue in its heyday, back when it was named after the new American novelty import, electricity.

brantgoose 2008-12-13 11:29:07 PM
Whoopsie-doodle! (I've been waiting all day to slip that into a thread).

I just noticed I typed "Electronic" Avenue for "Electric" Avenue.

It hasn't been updated that much!

Electric Avenue is actually in Lambeth according to the tourist guide, but this is only of interest to real estate agents, which in the UK are called estate agents.

Yesterday I was bored and made a "Electric Avenue" ringtone. Seriously. I normally despise mp3 ringtones and the associated douche-factor, but people were cracking up when they heard my phone ringing, today.

/remembers being a kid and watching that video, basking in that glorious age of dials and knobs, Defender, Huey Lewis, the space-aged cordless phone and what I can only assume was the ocean of cocaine and unprotected sex surrounding it all.
