Me too. I thought it was going to involve cows and frickin' lazer beems.

This Is A Fark Account: Canada needs its own tag.

And this.

I had to reread the first paragraph three times before I realized it was discussing a marine creature.

Stupid cow rays.

Those exhibits are stone-cold awesome. If you've never hand-fed rays before, it is all kind of fun. They'll swim up and hover over your hand and then suck the food right in. They can get quite rambunctious at times, splashing you if you don't have any ready food.

Cow knows Ray?

You know, I have one simple request. And that is to have cows with frickin' laser beams attached to their noses.

I think while we have been laughing our asses off about cow nose rays, we have forgotten the other part...they killed a whole tank of these things and are now filling it up again without knowing the cause of death. No accountability in Calgary apparently.

Death by nose ray!

Awesome, Gridlock... Awesome...

Jaera 2008-12-13 07:13:01 PM
Considering they STILL say they have no idea what killed the rays, I really hope they're not going to allow people to pet them. My guess - someone gassed up the car & didn't use the little hand wash thing at the exhibit well enough.

What everyone here was thinking, Gridlock.

Thank you.

So do the cow nose rays go along with the laser mounted tigers and sharks? Is this something we need to worry about vis a vis some kind of livestock invasion?

Bunnya69 2008-12-13 07:19:16 PM
Pure win, Gridlock.

This time, maybe its not such a good idea to let everyone reach in and pet them. You got thousand of people a week doing that, someone's going to have a potentially lethal contaminant on their hands.

Edgewood Dirk 2008-12-14 01:11:47 AM
I went to that exhibit numerous times and the rays were very cool to see. The one thing I thought they should have done different is make everyone remove jewelry and wash their hands BEFORE putting them into the tank.

Other than that it was a hands on display, and the kids loved it!

There's a bunch of exhibits like that. Even Sea World has one. They don't seem to have had problems. You'd need either a contaminant so lethal that it would cause health problems to the person wearing it or you'd need a bucket of the stuff.
