FTA:He said: "It's absolutely ridiculous. I had parked just off the road to unhook the sleigh and push it on to the pavement.
"I was there for probably about three minutes and no more.
"I came back to take the car off to the car park and there was a parking attendant leaving a ticket.

If that's true then the parking attendant must have been watching and waiting for the guy to leave the truck to ticket him. Pretty douchebag move.

Or the guy was gone longer than he claims he was and a patrolling parking attendant saw it and ticketed it, and the guy threw a hissy-fit to get it dropped.

I can see either one, really.

The Brits are known for 'just doing their jobs'

Do you know who else 'just did their jobs'?

Contract companies get money based on the amount of work they do, and parking tickets issued is one of the metrics that this company uses to show how much work they've been doing. Of course the person probably waited until the person left or turned around before ticketing them, because they know they can act in official power, don't have to answer to oversight, and they probably get a bonus for it.

KeeptheChief 2008-12-13 04:23:56 PM
From TFA: But Tim Cowen, director of communications for NCP Services, which is contracted by Nottinghamshire County Council to enforce parking in the area, said they were confident the ticket had been issued correctly.

Not to thread-jack, but be worried Chicago. This is what we've got coming. Bad things happen when private business takes over city duties. There is a reason that they put the money up to get these contracts.

Haven't you people ever seen Robocop?

From TFA: "The ticket was issued to a Land Rover that was unattended. It was parked on zigzag lines next to a pedestrian crossing.

That's a very dangerous form of illegal parking. Those zigzag lines are not to be parked on at any time. "

Zigzag lines are very dangerous. Do not park on zigzag lines. Zigzag lines are not to be trusted.

Damn. How can you give Kris Kringle a parking ticket on Christmas Eve? What's next, rabies shots for the Easter Bunny?

A few years ago, wasn't there a story about British parking police putting a boot on an illegally parked ambulance responding to an emergency? They needed to get someone to the ER too, and had to fight to have it removed.

Also, penis.

Its just a big power-trip, but more in the public eye. There are plenty of people like that here in the United States. Usually they work in HR, who will have no qualms about firing someone for being three minutes late because of a ten car pileup blocking the company's entrance.

Just like school safety officers who have no qualms about escorting a student to the office for having eye drops, which would lead to them getting expelled.

Just like TSA employees who put people on the shiatlist for chugging their bottle of water before moving past the checkpoint that won't allow said bottle of water through, after all, the water, or potential explosive, just got smuggled through..

Simple solution.

Decenber 1, 2009

Dear Nottingham,

As a result of last years douchebaggery, we have decided to hold our charity fund raising in another town who appreciates us and distribute all collected funds therein.

We would like to further say that we wish you to be dragged naked through a briar patch and then rolled in popcorn salt.

Enjoy your stockings full of shat.

West Bridgford Round Table
on behalf of Santa
