Actually, that's the most musical thing that douche ever played. That's not saying much. ATTN GUITAR NERDS: you know how people who don't hang out at Guitar Center 24/7 hate shiat like this? There's a reason. That's not music, it's jerking off on a guitar.

Four necked-guitars don't make you cool. Neither do wigs. Or shiatty music.

That's the definition of "shredding."

Wow. Nice find. I believe the lead singer is Jim Gillette, husband of Lita Ford, possessor of a supposed 8 octave voice.

My buddies and I used to save our hardest laughs for this band/video in 88/89.

Sounded like the same riff on each one.

Is that just four like-tuned necks on one body?

If so, WhyTF?

Roto-Rot: And notice how the guitar(s) descends from the heavens!

After it reverse-explodes! And after all that, it gets strangled by a talentless shiatstain with three cans of Aqua-Net in his hair!

Pro-tip: anyone with sufficient time and motor coordination can do anything Micheal Angelo does, and probably better. For instance, you might be able to discern what key the song is in, whereas Micheal Angelo apparently cannot.

Referred to so eloquently by my brother as "shameless wheedling".

Also known as: THIS. See also: Guy-Mann Dude (pops, contains 80's hair-metal skanks and a guitar that must've been pulled from a dumpster outside Steve Vai's house)

nitro is easily the funniest 80s band. anyone who likes this kind of thing should check out their 2nd record too, its gotta be heard to be believed. hard to beat the first one though.

outatime: For instance, you might be able to discern what key the song is in, whereas Micheal Angelo apparently cannot.

i agree with the first part, but michael angelo definitely knows what key hes in. his patterns and ESPECIALLY his arpeggios are the most basic sh*t of all time. he does seem like a nice guy though, hes popped up on some guitar geek forums ive been on.

wow, i remember him from guitar mags in the 80s but we never checked him out-we just assumed from his lessons and articles that he was ghey. it appears we were right.

I'm assuming each section of body has it's own pickup types/combinations for different sounds, in addition to each neck being able to be tuned differently.

Is that how it's being utilized here? Not so much.

It's because 80s hair metal fans were easily impressed. "Dude, that guitar has four necks!! Rad!!"

Yeah, that was probably unwarranted on my part, but one section of that solo sounded off to me. Maybe my laughing threw me off.

mahavishnunj: wow, i remember him from guitar mags in the 80s but we never checked him out

To be completely honest, I never did either. He looked like way too much of a wank. YouTube proved me right many years later.

mahavishnunj 2008-12-13 05:28:14 PM
Martstar: Tumeni Notes?

i think his delay is having a seizure on that. for some reason he alternate picks all his arpeggios instead of just sweeping them like any other lazy guitarist(me)would do.

outatime: Maybe my laughing threw me off.

how can you not take that seriously?

marius2: Fail :(

It's really not fail... Michael Angelo Batio, same guy as the Fark vid, is an amazing guitar player!

You can see him play the Double-Guitar, which he designed, in this video (there's an 8-second blank intro)...

Michael Angelo Batio Double-Guitar Solo

It starts to get sick @ 00:58 when he throws the pick away and just plays the necks with each hand.

I remember seeing that when i first started to play guitar, and I didn't appreciate it. I can see now that that's some awesome work. When a solo can keep me interested for that amount of time, I know its really good.

That music video in general is the ultimate in comedy hair rock. I've been showing it to people for years as the piece de resistance after Chocolate Rain and whatnot.

Also, the worst guitar solo ever. My favourite is the part where he's blatantly in the wrong key and they seemingly didn't bother to edit it out in the studio.

Incredible.

Wow it does my heart SO good that elvisaintdead beat me to posting a pic of the most awesome and fab Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick playing (yes, actually PLAYING) his 5-neck Hamer.... AND that others here appreciated the post too. See these guys live!
AND, as a bonus, you get bassist Tom Petersson on his 12-string (yes, 12 string) Waterstone bass....... a bass Tom himself conceived and helped develop. Try mastering THAT sumbiatch!
Seriously, if you want real fun oldschool rock n roll, see Cheap Trick live......... still workin hard and killin after all these years.

theres no difference between a 4 string and 12 string except the 12 needs to be played with a pick. the extra strings are just octave strings.

Cross of Iron: That Nitro video was pure cheese.

i dont think anyone debates the cheesiness of the nitro video. if you want jarzombek complexity without the cheez whiz vocals, check out 'blotted science' on youtube.

oh yeah, and the bass players band http://www.retartedelf.com

WrongTrousers "Must be wearing a cup (new window)"

I watched that five times in a row, laughing hysterically, then tried to mimic it and discovered that my falsetto goes a perfect fourth above his high note... and that scared me. I wasn't even trying.

All these years I've been grumbling from the bowels of my lungs like Nathan Explosion - never really thought to try to sing like I've just been kicked in the family jewels.

Also, expected to hear him say "Neil Hamburger" as he got started.

This guitar was actually stolen from him in Mexico, I think, and he later received a part of the body in Sweden. So says my Metal Sludge lovin' co-worker. I knew who it was without clicking on it.

MikoSquiz 2008-12-16 03:36:25 AM
From Guitar World's "100 Worst Guitar Solos" article:

51 NITRO
"Freight Train"
O.F.R. (1989)
GUITARIST: Michael Angelo

Listening to Michael Angelo's shrill, hyperspeed shredding is more torturous than hot dog night at Abu Ghraib. You'll want to throw yourself in front of a freight train before his solo ends.
