You know all those poolside lounge chairs people put a towel on to "reserve" at 8am and then go up and sleep until noon?

I fill a squirt gun with bear piss and I spray every chair and towel left unattended.

How hard is it to get the bear to piss into the squirt gun?

What's wrong with having a new resort destination? Sure, the Nazi thing will always be a skeleton in Germany's closet. But that doesn't mean they should deny themselves a sweet vacation spot.

After having seen Mauthausen and Berlin's Memorial for the Murdered Jews of Europe, I'm not sure I would like to see what Hitler built as a distraction for the Nazi conscience. Mein Herr, you've had a very productive week at Bergen-Belsen, please, come enjoy a weekend at Prora on the Furor!

Hitler was a demon, but he was a human as well. It bears reminding that any person could be capable of such monstrosity.

Well yeah, I see your point. But Germany should not be such a fun ...Nazi, and actually have some.

Went on vacation recently to mexico. The trend is spreading. I went out at 8:30 after 3 days of not getting a decent spot, and they were all already gone.

What the heck. Met an english couple who had the same problem. We kept looking for the germans but none were to be found....

Yeah that's one weird place.

Not only did they build a completely austere without significant balconies- and you're facing the beach!- but the building is a blocks-long monolithic wall that cuts the beach off from the rest of the world and vice versa.

And it's HUGE...

Has somebody been keeping this thing up? The roof looks in good shape. From the "urban archeologist" web pages I've noted how badly even concrete buildings can decay over the years. The difficult thing to picture is, due to the massive size, simply maintaining it against decay, redoing the roof, would take a LOT of money, yet there's zero income from it.

Germans are, by and large, total pricks.

My Body outranks ANYONE's Towel.

I'm not suggesting a free-for all, but screw you if the pool is empty except for a bunch of towels. I *will* throw your towel in the pool. Enjoy your lie-in and big liesurely breakfast.

Having lived in germany for seven years when I was in the military, I can tell you this; German girls love American dick, especially in the butt. German men are arrogant jerks, and german holidaymakers are the worst of the lot. Backpackers are fine, but those who go in for luxury resorts are just screaming corksuckers.

also, 1:00 pm means farking 1:00 pm. It doesn't mean "everyone get there at 12:45". Granted that's better than italy, where it means 3:30. A 1:00 pm bus should be there until 1:01, not rolling away from the curb at 12:59.

Yeah, the Germans are no better/worse than anyone else, though they do have a blind spot about waiting in line and the towel thing. As for the Nazi thing, it was just a combination of circumstances, it could have happened in USA, Britain, anywhere if they had lost the war and had crippling reparations imposed by the French leading to hyper-inflation. There was plenty of anti-semitism to go around.

Lord Summerisle 2008-12-13 03:11:26 PM
Yes, I heard about this place... impressive in scale but Jesus, what god-awful uninviting architecture. Looks more like a giant prison block than a resort. And in the Baltic! They could at least have waited to annex somewhere sunny, maybe Madagascar, and built resorts there and run subsidised cruise ships for the workers.

I think it'd be funny if the resort's majority owner was a Jew.

Let's remember the past but let modern Germans live their past.
I mean, we drive German and Japanese cars. We can't rub it in their face forever.

It's a slap in the Axis face to have all of us Untermensch partying at their former resort.

The circumstances were there I'll agree, but who had the guts (prior to 1944 and it was WAY too late) to stand up and say "this has gone quite far enough?" That one man or a relatively small group of them could seduce a whole rational population into unthinkable barbarity is....well, I'm not quite sure what it is. But I don't think it could have happened in the US or Britain as you claim. Most places, the crazy gets stopped before it gets out of hand.

Right. Its a good thing we didn't round up our citizenry, violate their rights and stuff them into camps based on their race during the 40's based on the premise of "protecting the homeland."

Yes because sending hundreds of tons of explosives on a Luxury Liner is ok. Or the fact that the German Government KNEW that the Lusitania would be shipping explosives from NEUTRAL America to its enemy Britain so they took out an ad in the New York Times saying do not ride the Lusitania or you will die!

But its ok to forget that it was bait to draw us into a pointless war in Europe to begin with.

I grew up in a tourist area, German tourists really are the worst. Germans I've met elsewhere are perfectly nice, but the ones who'd come on holiday? It's like they forgot all their manners.

As far as WWII goes, I have an aunt who takes full advantage of the guilt that her parents' village has for booting all of the Jews out in the 1930s. As it goes though, in the end her parents kind of lucked out that their village was even more anti-semitic than most, because getting kicked out as early as they were meant they were some of the lucky ones who were able to high tail it to America before it started getting really bad.

Hold it right there, buddy.

On the eve of defeat, how many Southern slave owners shot their grossly malnourished, guinea-pig-for-science negros? If we're talking in comparative terms, might we also add the numbers of interned Japanese-Americans NOT sent to the ovens in our (circa WWII) detention camps?
