Is the Taleban in any way related to the Taliban?

I think "Taleban" is like "Moslem"; different ways of writing Arabic in Roman characters, and both work.

I've always heard of "The Taliban" referred to in the singular. Is Submitter suggesting that there is an alternative spelling as well as the ability for the group as a whole to be expressed as a plural?

As abhorrent as this is as a matter of principle, I'm willing to bet that in practice our insane anti-poppy campaign does a lot more to indirectly push money and support to the Taliban than anything else.

And Arabic-English transliteration is a tricky subject. There really is no single right way to do it.

before y'all jump on the submitter for his/her spelling of taliban, consider that arabic words can be spelled many different ways in english. for example, the libyan leader's name is sometimes spelled "qaddafi," "gaddafi" or "khaddafi."

and of course, "taliban" is pashto, not arabic - but i would imagine the same rule applies.

I try to get the information out there, the mujahideen will not stop fighting the invaders until they pull out of Muslim land.
