What's wrong with Bon Jovi?

Subby, you're halfway there.

mainstreet62: What's wrong with Bon Jovi?

The short answer: their music.
The long answer: their music sucks.

While I pretty much agree, subby is still overstating quite a bit. There are many far, far worse acts.

I HATE THINGS THAT ARE COOL

IF {RollingStones}tour=false
THEN {HighestGrossingTour}=BonJovi OR U2

That's sort of how it goes.

While I haven't seen them in concert, I hear they put on a good show. But I'm sure Jon Bon Jovi is crying into his mansion made of platinum that the submitter doesn't like him or his music.

Name recognition, good show, radio-friendly music = awareness. Awareness means popularity, which means people will pay to see you. That's sort of how it goes. Who the hell else did you expect to be at the top of the list?

It could be worse.

It could have been Ashlee Simpson.

so tough

Hey.

Bon Jovi is cool.

Well, cooler than Celine Dion, Madonna, and The Spice Girls. If anything, the fact that they beat those three acts gives me faith that people want to hear real music again.

Then, I hear Soulja Boy on the radio.

Hey, at least it's not Nickelback.

Saw Bon Jovi back in the 80's and wasn't impressed, but it was the end of a loooong tour, so they were pretty wasted by the time they made their third stop in Pittsburgh. Still, at least they're out there on the road. Maiden did what, 6 US tour dates?

If (insert your favorite underground/indie band here) were the top touring act of 2008 that would mean in order to see them you'd have to go to some giant stadium and suffer through crappy sound quality, nosebleed seats, and being surrounded by thousands of people who only know the songs they hear on the radio.

I'm quite content to let Bon Jovi be the top touring act and instead enjoy my favorite bands at the local rock clubs.

'Bon Jovi was the top touring act of 2008, proving there is no hope for mankind. God help us all'

Pretty much this. The guy/band is such a light weight musically I have never seen the appeal.

I will say this though: he does a freaking KILLER VERSION of
'Please Come Home For Christmas' and no, I'm not kidding.

Is this 1988?

Wow. You're an idiot.

If Wonderbread made music, it would sound like Bon Jovi.

It is!
Aren't you going to be born in less than ten years?

Weird year for music.

Bon Jovi top touring act is one thing, but then Metallica and Guns and Roses(Axl) both put out really good albums. Didn't see it coming.

/Bon Jovi sucks still

A sad statement for an otherwise worthwhile year of music.

Unfortunately, no.

The best thing about Bon Jovi is they keep the riff-raff occupied while I attend quality shows.

My favorite band sucks.

Captain_Creampuff 2008-12-12 05:02:56 PM
That's surprising.

I thought it would be the police

biandlarge 2008-12-12 05:44:40 PM
Yes, but while they used to see a million faces and rock them all, this time they managed only a disappointing 89% face-rocking ratio.

Kona_Bean 2008-12-12 07:05:50 PM
Support local music. Go to small shows! I saw a farkton of awesome shows last year and none of them are anywhere near any 'top' list.

New, creative, visionary talent isn't going to just appear if it can't develop to that point.
