awesome.

Nirvana did something similar in Japan, its in the "Live tonight sold out" video. Its pretty funny, the vocals are live though, and Kurt messes with the lyrics

Tried to look for it on Youtube, but didnt find it

i remember seeing the dead milkmen on some MTV show once. instead of guitar amps, they had large cardboard boxes with "guitar amp" and "bass amp" written on them in magic marker. and they didn't even try to lip synch. it was funny as hell. pissed off the hostess something fierce.

BobtheFascist 2008-12-11 04:28:38 PM
Respect, yo.

Love that song too.

MaxxLarge [TotalFark] 2008-12-11 04:31:28 PM
Holy crap, that's hilarious. They had to know the show wasn't going to stop, and they could do whatever the hell they wanted. I don't blame them a bit. I'll bet the director was scheissing himself.

I'm usually not one to praise unprofessionalism, but this is hysterical.

Iron Maiden is the best band ever, and this just reaffirms that fact.

When Muse did it for the same reason, it was funnier

Ok, so why were they forced to lip-sync?

Anarchangel 2008-12-11 07:50:55 PM
I love that song. I love that video. I love you, submitter.

slayer199: Ok, so why were they forced to lip-sync?

It was the style of the show. It was like American Bandstand with a few really kickass bands.

Then again, the Strawberry Fields Forever video was on AB, so there you go.

IronTom [TotalFark] 2008-12-11 08:05:39 PM
hahaha, that was awesome. Milli Vanilli needed to take notes.

Have you actually heard what they sound like with live mics? Here's a sample- Link (new window)

That was awesome! I haven't seen it before, and I have a new respect for those guys now.

gruelurks 2008-12-11 09:33:27 PM
I think this was on their Behind the Iron Curtain VHS tape back in the day. Good stuff lol.

mandingueiro 2008-12-11 10:52:00 PM
Iron Maiden have stayed true their whole careers pumping out excellent material on a consistent basis. they did something similar in Japan (?) for a show. I think its the video "12 Wasted Years" but i'm not sure.

spyderz343 2008-12-11 11:08:58 PM
lol that was awsome. love maiden

ridcullylives 2008-12-11 11:25:58 PM
Muse hates lipsyncing too:

This (new window) is when they let him have a live mic.

Here (new window)

and this (new window)

and this (new window)

The drummer and the bassist switched instruments for the second one, if you don't know the band.

John Lennon also loved to do shiat like that in the Beatles. I wish I could find some clips.

Dee Snarl 2008-12-12 01:12:49 AM
God I love those guys.

"I'm usually not one to praise unprofessionalism, but this is hysterical."

You have it backwards. Lip-synching is unprofessional, mocking the practice when you're forced to do it shows respect for your fans.

I saw a photo of the Dead doing a similar thing, playing broomsticks instead of guitars

Fearofablankplanet 2008-12-12 09:27:44 AM
Can someone please post a screenshot of this? I am viewing from inside a federal building so Youtube is forbidden.

Also, is there an alternative site with this video posted?

Up the Irons!

Wow great video.

BTW does every Maiden thread have to have someone claiming here's how they really sound and post that shreds hoax as real when it's not.

thesubliminalman 2008-12-12 04:51:04 PM
Iron Maiden's a joke.

puckhead 2008-12-12 07:41:15 PM
a) yes, Maiden rules
b) I was at a Cracker show where they all switched instruments mid-song. It sounded like ass, but it was entertaining.

ACCORDianate 2008-12-13 01:17:54 PM
I went to a Cracker show at Trees in Deep Ellum in Dallas back about 1993. Not too impressed.
