Hmm, Germany is doing what the "fiscal conservatives" on this site wanted to do, and they are threatening to bring down all of Europe. Let's just ponder that and see if there's a connection there. Hmm...

For me DHL pulling out of the US was funny and sour grapes. I drove for one of the other big carriers. One day I was delivering a package to a lawyers office and I knocked on the door. He came out all irate saying we should be, "RINGING THE DOORBELL and not KNOCKING! This is why DHL is killing you guys!" Asshole.

Europe may crumble because Germany's economy and bad planning is forcing it to take bold action

Not even close.

We aren't taking much of ANY action. It's one of the main reasons Merkel is being criticized in the German press. She's stalling for time because she doesn't have much of a clue what to do with this nonsense. And the idea that our planning was worse than the country who originated bundling fail mortages as securities and shuffling them off to every international buyer imaginable is laughable.

It is, in short, a classic example of the kind of situation in which policy coordination is essential - but you won't get coordination if policymakers in the biggest European economy refuse to go along

Gee, maybe it has to do with the idiotic proposals by other countries, like France in particular, to nationalize farking EVERYTHING.

The problem any bailout over here will pose to us is that we end up footing most of the bill to bail out other countries who farked up of their own accord. You'd be pretty reluctant and pissed off if suddenly U.S. taxpayers were forced to bail out Mexico or Guatemala.

German Finance Minister Peer Steinbrück - an erstwhile social democrat, no less - is lambasting the "vulgar Keynesianism" of Gordon Brown and other stimulus advocates and thereby doing a considerable amount to block stimulus all across the EU.

Wow, someone has actually learned from history.

Me personally, very much so. I had to transfer a lot of US accounts to German accounts recently when it was around .80 Euro for every dollar (highest it's been in a long time), so I actually got a pretty damn good deal.

ObscureNameHere: Uh-oh. We've got a German getting grumpy about France, again...

The absolute LAST thing any typical German wants is to be responsible for France.

I don't know about Germany's banking regulation but countries that had taken steps to protect their banks from unregulated financial capital flows are relatively unaffected by this crisis. Turkey, for example. I'm fairly sure that the European banks reaping record profits off of this credit fault swap system weren't complaining throughout the nineties and 2000's.

Another rather amusing thing that none of these blurbs seem to mention is how Merkel just keeps stalling for time.

The media coverage is growing more and more impatient with her "wait and see" attitude. Last week she said they might not do anything until March/April.

She's shooting herself in the foot in terms of re-election.

Perhaps BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, VW, Zeiss, Krupp, H&K, Aldi didn't buy out a company in another country and give golden parachutes to the executives who KNEW how to run the business (when they bought Airborne Express) and they didn't know how to run a business in America. And they didn't know how to do squat outside of their international operation.

They took a perfectly viable company and drove it into the ground, and it will cost over 10,000 jobs in DHL and ABX Air. Plus all the other businesses that will suffer as a result. A good section of Ohio will suffer from their stupidity.

DHL kept borrowing money and getting bailout money from their parent company Deuche Post and STILL couldn't make a profit. Last year they lost a billion, this year they lost a billion and a half.

Do your research before you attack someone who knows what is happening, dumb ass.

Enron was run by incompetent farkers. And Ken Lay should have been stoned.
