(New York Daily News) Obvious Blagojevich can't even sell a US Senate seat for a decent price, as one NYC assemblyman racked up the same amount of bribe money all by himself, just for access to a bunch of no-name schlumps in Albany   (nydailynews.com) divider line 29

Seriously. It just takes time. Bringing down a society as large and diverse as America isn't something you can do in a weekend.

To be fair, the feds ended Blagojevich's auction prematurely, so who knows how high the bidding might have gone?

In Washington DC planning to be president.

You ever watch the news?

I'm just loving this feeding frenzy. But then again you Repubs haven't had any fresh blood to suck on since before November...

As a registered Democrat, there is nothing I don't like about Blago's indictment.

Yeah, as an Illinois Democrat, I'm glad to see this guy go down. He kept trying to muscle in on Daley's corruption, and we don't need that kind of interventionism.

Any wordsmiths in the forum? I'm looking for a word to describe a person who is raving mad that a President Elect came from a state in which the governor is corrupt, however was happy to vote in a corrupt governor from a different state as Vice President.

A lot of deflection in here. This is a different Democrat. Apparently nobody wants to comment on his corruption, just maintain the indignation that Obama could somehow be tied to a corrupt politician from his own state. How about instead of letting other threads flow into this one (as to arguments on how Obama was in no way connected to the Illinois Gov), this thread focus on the NY assemblyman and his corruption.

You have to wonder how much a Senate seat is actually worth on the market. I'm sure President would fetch a couple hundred million, and a Congressional seat a few hundred thousand (depending on the district)... hrm.

Excellent. As a registered 'decline to state' (that's an actual registration option in my state), there's nothing I don't like about Ted Stevens indictment/defeat. I only wish flogging were permitted as well, but I'll take what I can get.

In Albany?!

You can get an apartment for like $300/mo in Arbor Hill.

/hopefully you don't have an allergy to bullets, but the point is it's cheap

Seminerio's loads of fun. An old school goombah from Queens. Falls asleep during state of the state speeches all the time. Dirty as hell, but nobody could pin anything on him until another crooked assemblyman gave him up.

So that's something like five-ten percent of the NY assembly under indictment at any given time.

BTW, I could understand nodding out when it was Pataki talking, but Seminerio would nod out during Mario Cuomo's speeches too.
