I think Obama's people were the ones who tipped off the feds after Blago tried to extort them. That's why they're being all hush hush.

Nice.

The thing is that Obama probably didn't do anything untoward, but it would have been easier to say that he told Blago to piss off than to deny any conversation took place at all.

Look, it is not Obama being indited in this mess. Maybe the feds have some questions for the president elect, maybe they don't. It think if I was his position I'd keep my mouth shut until that became clear or I would be interfering with a federal investigation. Anyways Obama will giving a speech tonight about what is going so I suggest you neocons just chill til then.

This whole thing keeps getting stranger and stranger. Did the meeting occur? Simple question. Deserves a simple answer from Blajogavanevichnevichenaaafarkithoweveryouspellhisname and Obama. Then we can put this thing to bed...or not.

Look I would be SHOCKED if he didnt discuss it with him - I would fully expect ANYONE in Obama's position to at least have a little talk with the person who was going to appoint someone to fill MY position.

I didnt vote for Obama, really other than his choice for Energy I havent been all that impressed, but I think if they did talk to him they should have said so right off the bat... A simple "yeah they talked, O-man said these few people would make decent choices and that was it" would have sufficed.

Now we have this cicling malestrom of news stores, aide comments, denials, restatements, the infamous "mispoke" - it just looks bad, and really for probably no damn good reason.

Expect this for another 4 years. Obama: "OMG, we farked up"? "B...B...Bush!", there, all better.

There once was a shepherd boy who was bored as he sat on the hillside watching the village sheep. To amuse himself he took a great breath and sang out, "Wolf! Wolf! The Wolf is chasing the sheep!"

The villagers came running up the hill to help the boy drive the wolf away. But when they arrived at the top of the hill, they found no wolf. The boy laughed at the sight of their angry faces.

"Don't cry 'wolf', shepherd boy," said the villagers, "when there's no wolf!" They went grumbling back down the hill.

Later, the boy sang out again, "Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is chasing the sheep!" To his naughty delight, he watched the villagers run up the hill to help him drive the wolf away.

When the villagers saw no wolf they sternly said, "Save your frightened song for when there is really something wrong! Don't cry 'wolf' when there is NO wolf!"

But the boy just grinned and watched them go grumbling down the hill once more.

Later, he saw a REAL wolf prowling about his flock. Alarmed, he leaped to his feet and sang out as loudly as he could, "Wolf! Wolf!"

But the villagers thought he was trying to fool them again, and so they didn't come.

At sunset, everyone wondered why the shepherd boy hadn't returned to the village with their sheep. They went up the hill to find the boy. They found him weeping.

"There really was a wolf here! The flock has scattered! I cried out, "Wolf!" Why didn't you come?"

An old man tried to comfort the boy as they walked back to the village.

"We'll help you look for the lost sheep in the morning," he said, putting his arm around the youth, "Nobody believes a liar...even when he is telling the truth!"

Should we start taking bets as to when the Government will step in to control the internet in some form? It seems to be rather troublesome at times for politicians what with YouTube and all those pesky venues where people can see how these people behave now unlike days gone by when there was no way to get any information out to the general public without using the established media. I almost consider that prospect a greater threat to freedom than them taking away the 2nd amendment. How will they ever get away with things when someone can rebut their "No I didn't" with a "Oh...yes you did!" and show proof.

What a sad argument. Does that mean everything less than Bush's war is OK even if it's wrong?

\I assume the worst thing Obama did here is lie, if even that, but lieing to cover your ass is still lieing.

Learn_with_Gern 2008-12-11 09:19:19 AM
The Chicago political stank has only just began to waft thru the national political scene. Notice the conspicuous silence of Rahm Emanuel. If Obama moves quickly and admits to whatever practically unavoidable dealings with the scum bag -- be them politically costly or benign -- he'll come thru this relatively unscathed. If he balks, denies and covers up, his administration is going to get off to a sorry start.

Too bad that the media is already covering Obama's tracks... they shouldn't need to if he's as clean as he probably is in this case. After all, Obama and Blojobovitch are not exactly political allies.

However it goes, this will be fun to watch.

THIS

Obama says one thing, his staffers say another.

Obama made brief comments denying ever meeting with Blagojevich or anyone on his staff about the vacancy and denying knowledge that Blagojevich was essentially offering the appointment for sale to the highest bidder. That statement contradicted Obama's own chief political strategist, David Axelrod, who told a local Chicago television station that Obama and Blagojevich had met about the appointment, and Obama had expressed his approval for several of the candidates under consideration. Axelrod hastily retracted those remarks yesterday, calling them, "mistaken."

Let's see how the Obama apologists respond to this.

Pretty much. I think we need to finally admit that anybody who voted for Bush is incapable of seeing corruption and hence has no real credibility. It's a nasty way of telling them to shut the fark up, but since they're just doing this to label Obama with the same brush Bush was accurately painted with, it's obvious that they're just lazily projecting their own flaws onto anybody with a Democratic Party affilation so they can continue their bullshiat 'the whole gov'ment is BAAD' meme that they want to fall back on.

Republicans are pathetic.

While I am sure there is quite a bit of that going on - are you actually saying that you believe that Obama did NOT speak to the governor who was going to nominate someone to replace him?

I guess this is one of those cases where the "simple" answer was not given - now the whole thing stinks - once again probably for not good reason.

Tell a big enough lie, and it becomes the truth.... Well, acutally, Goebbels' original quote was

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."

Of course, he also said "Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play." Grasshopper has learned well.
