Sadly enough that is probly true. It would still do better than "The Elder." Although their last three studio albums were pretty good-Revenge, Carnival of Souls, and Psycho Circus.

It's okay, that's half the band anyway - Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer.

At this point for anyone to remotely give a shiat about a Kiss album, it would have to live up to Destroyer and then some. Not gonna happen.

Go with the reality show, replace all the original members and carry on with a Kiss carnival Vegas show that can run on for years. That's where it's all headed anyway.

Sorry StormDawg, I love Kiss (the old stuff anyway), but they are mediocre musicians at best. Great marketers though.
And even I, an aging Kiss fan, wouldn't buy a new release. I wouldn't even bother downloading it for free.

I read the article BEFORE I posted. As I said, I'm a fan (for nostalgia, mainly), and I've even seen them in concert a few times. They are a fun show but that doesn't make them good musicians. And now that they're doing "Space Ace" and "Cat" makeup on people other than Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, I wouldn't bother seeing them again.

Why can you compare KISS to the Who, Zep, Stones, Eagles, etc? Look at the numbers m'fer. 26 albums...all but 4 went to at least gold, and a good share of those went multiplat.
That's really enough to be said...more albums sold than the who, stones, etc. So...22 albums with a gold or higher rating.

Also their influence...I cant even begin to name the bands who have cited KISS as their main or near main influence...just like the Stones, Zep and the Who.

The fact that they still play to big crowds...after 30+ years...just like the Stones, Zep and the Who. Headlined a show of 500K in Brazil. Who else has played shows like that? Zep...The Who? Pink Floyd? Hmm...

However I am realistic, Gene is a money hoarding jew. However, an album produced by Paul, its very intriguing. Its also a big sign that Gene might be letting up.

Seriously, if you don't like KISS at all, you're really not a fan of rock 'n' roll.

BTW, aszure, I hear what you're saying, but Cheap Trick's last album, "Rockford", was outstanding. A solid rock album from top to bottom - big guitars, big vocals.

The rest of you can go back to listening to Vampire Weekend or what ever crap-du-jour you think is so great.

Cheap Trick can play circles around KISS. Always could.

It's true that KISS is one of the most influential bands of all time and I was right there in the middle of it cheering them on. But musically, they're a weak 4 on a scale of 10. And that's the 1973-1983 stuff.

Revenge was OK, too. Cheap Trick has made one or two weak albums, at most. KISS has made two dozen.

Early Kiss stands up tho. Alive 1 and 2 are just killer albums that rock really hard. I'm a fan, and biased but there's some great shiat on the early albums that shouldn't be discounted.

Black Diamond, Got to Choose, and 100,000 years are great songs and not really fluff.

I keep telling my friends this: KISS is like some sort of lame lifeform that should have died out much quicker. Such as it is, it's essential to the evolutionary chain. But, for its own sake? it's full of fail.

Let me put it this way. If not for KISS, then no White Zobmie, for example. This is good. We needed White Zombie, so I have some respect for KISS. But, again, not on their own terms, but in that they influenced a lot of bands I like.

I swear, the only song by KISS I sort of like is Detroit Rock City. That and White Zombie's remake of God of Thunder.
