I liked them when they first came out because I was fiending for some new grunge-style music at the time. I listened to My Own Prison not too long ago and it's amazing how basic and derivative it all sounds when you aren't desperately looking for a return to rock.

My boss collects old records and recently let me hear some of The Shaggs stuff and I will agree with you completely. My Pal Foot Foot was one of three songs he played and my ears didn't stop bleeding for at least an hour. I thought my eardrums were going to jump out of my head and strangle me.

Actually the guitar player, Mark Tremonti, is pretty damn good. In all seriousness, I don't think the guy gets the credit he deserves because of the douche frontman and his JC pose. Saw them live and was very suprised by what I heard him playing...then saw him warming up backstage for an Alter Bridge show...the guy can play.

THE SHAGGS -- 100% non-pretentious and totally honest,the three girls were so utterly ignorant of music and of their own musical peers that they are NOTHING BUT absolute originality.

Despite the Shaggs complete lack of musicianship or even basic meter, they are far more deserving of recognition as "artists" than Creed. Anyone who believes otherwise is clueless as to the true merits of art and creativity.

Really, you're going to put Nickelback and the Chili Peppers in the same category? Really? At least the Peppers have had some good stuff, even if you don't like them totally you have to be able to find at least one or two songs you enjoy in their 25 year career.

Nickelback on the other hand, has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. It's the kind of music they blast into interrogation rooms to make people crack.
