Oooh, greenlit again. I can even use the same comment as I did in the previous thread about this from a couple weeks ago:

"Headline references their only good song."

Valdes 2008-12-09 09:02:16 PM
Agreed. Blur only had that one Clint Eastwood song that was any good.

Wasn't that Gorillaz that had the Clint Eastwood song?

That song you're referring to was meant as a joke. Though, yes, it was their only good song.

I have a non-Blur question. Where in Hyde Park do they do all these big shows? We were in London last year (our hotel was near the Marble Arch) and we walked around the park a bit but never saw any big stage anywhere. I'm just curious how I missed it.

usually in a blue box about double the size of a phonebooth

They will simply not be outdone by Creed, and must re-band to attempt to capture the title of Worst Band in the World.

If it wasn't for Pulp, Blur would've been the best British band of the 90s. As it is, they're definitely in the "10 best British bands, all time" list.

Which is, of course, the same list as the "10 best bands in the world, all time" one.

Yeah, Song #2 was an OK tune, but it was nowhere near the best track on that album.

That's another reunion I'm holding out for. Finally saw Jarvis perform last year, and it was amazing, but I still really want to see Pulp. I was 14 the one time they played Dallas (with Blur), too young to get in.

Agreed. I've always had a soft spot for "On Your Own". It still has that Britpop charm while still moving forward with their sound.

The stage is only set up when there is a gig, it is a temporary structure.

Cool, so where do they set it up?

Hmm, all the years I lived in London (Notting Hill mainly which is a few mins by bike from HP) I never went to a gig in the park or paid any attention to them...

No idea.

Every word in that comment is pure win.

Also, I submitted this exact same story, only the headline was "COOL" instead of "SPIFFY". Exactly the same only several hours before (as a Blur fan, I simply picked the only song that everyone knew by Blur. No one would get it if I did a "Coffee & TV" joke).

If anyone got a "Coffee and TV" joke, I'd be more than astounded, I'd be practically floored.

A Coffee and TV joke would be hard enough for me as it is.

I love Blur and most of their work, but they way I shop it to the doubters is: listen to their singles collection. It is easily the most solid compilation of all the britpop bands, and possibly of all time.

I liked Blur, and I liked the Gorillaz.

And I saw The Good, The Bad, and The Queen at a club gig in Berlin in the spring of 2007.

/And I'm submitter
//woo hoo

Came for the (what I thought was) obligatory pic of the Lost Milk Carton. Left disappointed.

Valdes: A Coffee and TV joke would be hard enough for me as it is.

It would've involved something with the line "we could start over again", but decided it wasn't worth it. Ditto a "For Tomorrow" reference. Or (because it's at Hyde Park) a "Parklife" reference.

But of course, someone who posted this immediately after me got submitted first. So does that mean that Stuff.co.nz is a far better source than the BBC?
