It's really not as good as this one (and no, it's not the out-of-tune teenagers). This really IS the best cover of The Final Countdown that you'll see all year:

The Final Countdown

Obviously not, if you watch the smug grins on the "real musicians" behind them.

The lead singer is how I imagined TMLO's face to be like.

Well, they don't exactly smash their instruments as lay them down, but all in all I'd say this kicks serious ass :C)

Wareq 2008-12-09 12:35:21 AM
I could've smashed those for them with a bit of my spastic dancing.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Oh, I don't know...

Aside from the usual standard, I would have to give a nod to the Chipmunks version, personally. (pops)

Still...

I may or may not resemble W.C. Hawley of Smoot-Hawley Tariff fame...

Jesus Christ TMLO, you're already in my favorites, until there's a super-favorites option in the event someone makes a Smoot-Hawley Tariff joke I think you're going to have to tone it down.

ThePuceGuardian 2008-12-09 01:52:31 AM
Was that Johnny Depp on lead, or did it just look like him?

You don't know the half of it.

Despite not knowing how to play the guitar, I want to start a themed rock band where the band members and songs have something to do with the people involved with the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act and that time period.

The name?

THE SMOOT-HAWLEY GUITAR RIFF ACT.

What is it with the Finns and cello/rock mixups?

Bhasayate [TotalFark] 2008-12-09 12:27:24 PM
In the cello version, the best part is at about 3:50 or so when the guy on the far left (our left, from the audience pov), his glasses fall off bz he's headbangin' so hard.

Laibach - Final Countdown

LOL --- it's the cheesy techno/opera/kraftwerk/i-just-learned-how-to-use-computer-animation-software version

I think it's because thy actually listen to classical music, so it's more natural to pair up these things?

HOLY fark
I love these guys... been into them for about 6 years after I found their parody of "Anarchy In the UK".

All of their songs are parodies. This band (translation is The Pensioners) started as a side-project for members of the Finnish metal band Kumikameli.

they are a crazy Finnish band that perform wild, naked, and drunken concerts. They are also known for the smashing of instruments.

I have their latest albums that I bought from Finland, and their DVD. It is a compilation of live shows, bizzare music videos, and drunken antics for their tour.

They are described by the media (and themselves) as polka-punk.

Their songs are all parodies - made humerous to make fun of old people in Finland (hence the name 'The Pensioners')

/the more you know
