To the members who left the band, all I have to say is this:

You wanted out, but you can't have it.

/had to say it.

Complicit [TotalFark] 2008-12-07 08:46:43 PM
Now if we can just get Mr. Bungle to play nice.

Dupa [TotalFark] 2008-12-07 08:47:14 PM
I once had confidence they would tour again, but I can't believe it any longer.

HalfAsleep [TotalFark] 2008-12-07 08:52:55 PM
I've always wanted to create a Mike Patton drinking game. I'm not sure what it entails exactly, but that guy has enough projects and bands and does enough wacked out shiat, it shouldn't be that hard.

EvilElecBlanket [TotalFark] 2008-12-07 08:57:20 PM
Those guys don't get nearly the props they deserve. Who else was mixing rock and rap at the time. Aerosmith/Run DMC's version of Walk This Way doesn't count.

Their version of "War Pigs" on The Real Thing is better than Ozzy's

/ducks

ne2d [TotalFark] 2008-12-07 09:26:47 PM
I'm a Mike Patton fanatic, but I'm not to excited about this. First of all, it would make the lack of a Mr. Bungle reunion all the more frustrating. Plus, IMO Faith No More went steadily downhill with every album. The Real Thing is a masterpiece--it's tied in my book with California as Patton's best album, but Album of the Year is one of his weakest.

I just wish he'd hurry up and release Mondo Cane.

EvilElecBlanket: Their version of "War Pigs" on The Real Thing is better than Ozzy's

Agreed.

Complicit [TotalFark] 2008-12-07 09:36:37 PM

Have to disagree. Angel Dust was better than The Real Thing.

Complicit [TotalFark] 2008-12-07 09:37:15 PM
Not sure why that is in bold. Apologies.

NuttierThanEver [TotalFark] 2008-12-07 09:52:45 PM

FTFY
/seriously it holds together thematically and musically than The Real Thing by leaps and bounds.

oh please! oh please! oh please! oh please! oh please! oh please!

The one time I had tickets to see FNM, I got too drunk and passed out in the van in the parking lot... I was farking pissed!!!!

I would love to see them live!

/and yes, Angel Dust is their best album.

It's missing one Big Sick Ugly Jim Martin.

Also, it's missing a lot of the cool stuff that made them interesting. It is, however, a great hard rock record.

Fair enough--but do we at least agree that King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime and Album of the Year are seriously weak?

the_nascent 2008-12-07 10:55:55 PM
this is why i love fark.... i feel at home here so i will say Yes Yes i have a tattoo of the logo of FNM on my arm!

people ask if im jewish. all you fnm fans know what that is .

if this happens i already got the wife to fly to Uk to see it

ive been to the every lp (with mike on vocals) tour that the band has ever dun in the usa,
the last show i saw them was in ks and i got to hang out with one of the volcano sisters ,,,(do you liner notes home work,) 2nd best show that i ever seen, The 1st was the 1st leg of the usa tour for king for a day tour, they played so long the venue had to turn on the hose lights, and they still played for a good 20 mins, with patton telling of the venue.(its was a 20 min version of take this bottle, they said they needed to practice it) .. oh and steel pole bath tub was the opener.... im still creaming on my pants.

oh and im only 29.

J13P 2008-12-07 10:56:20 PM

And I thought I had drank my Last Cup of Sorrow, I'll be drinking another if I miss the tour!

barneyfifesbullet 2008-12-07 11:17:48 PM
You mean Mike Patton wants to actually make some listenable music again instead of just being weird, just to be weird?

finaboy 2008-12-07 11:17:55 PM
Mike Patton on Wolfmother

Somebody needed to say it....

182 2008-12-07 11:20:18 PM

because it's a bold statement.

If you haven't heard Dillinger Escape Plan's EP Irony is a Dead Scene with Mike Patton on vocals, you're missing out. Check out When Good Dogs Do Bad Things^, and enjoy the Tex Avery-style ...um, vocals at 0:39.

Still can't believe the version of 'Come to Daddy' on that. Just. Wow.

senor frank 2008-12-08 12:03:15 AM
No need to hate on king for a day or album of the year... I am not a "everything my favorite artist does is incredible" kind of guy, but seriously... there are some good ass tracks on those albums... last cup of sorrow, ashes to ashes, strip search, take this bottle... also the covers of easy and i started a joke... i think it's some of their better stuff, but i am known as an idiot in most circles, so my opinion may be invalid...

that rawks so hard man! "Angel Dust" was so goddamn killer it hurts.

Awesome. These guys put on one of the best shows I ever saw. Many people complain they are a studio band. They are VERY wrong.

I hope the guitarist can quit sucking dick long enough to practice playing all the old songs.

I would only go see FNM if Courtney Love was invited back to sing instead of Patton.

/WHAARRRRGGGHHAAAAHAHHAHA

But, seriously, Fool for a Day has some good songs on it. I and really, really like Album of the Year. Although I can see that it's not vintage FNM, it's got some damn good stuff on there.

My faves of that album: Naked in Front of the Computer (duh), Mouth to Mouth (wtf is it? Russian Folk Punk, those keys really are out there eh), and the best tune on the album, Got that Feeling.

Does it not bother FNM fans that Mike cannot sing to save his life? The tard cannot sing, not even a little. They are without a doubt the shiattiest live band I have ever seen.

ProgScape 2008-12-08 07:28:34 AM
WOW.

Just...WOW.

You can't have a "proper" FNM reunion without Jim, tho....

/takes it from their drummer "puff"

I want to do something about it, but I feel helpless. Then again, that's to be expected because I'm naked in front of the computer (and no, not because of being stripsearched.

Came in for the Mr. Bungle ref, left happy. Mr. Bungle was the shiat, although it really freaked me out the first time i heard him. Could've had something to do with the fact that i just burned one after skipping school and a friend of mine was like "listen to this."

However, the live version of War Pigs by FNM on Nativity in Black, where Mike Patton goes full retard, is not.

Wandarah 2008-12-08 09:39:46 AM
agreed raiden23 - i've always considered it thier best album too. to me, it still sounds good now - whereas i cannot say the same for the real thing, or angel dust (though still obviously great albums). mikes voice had really matured, he was doing a lot more with it, the album had a lot more style too it.

yeah shiat, i love that album.

Barton Fink 2008-12-08 09:45:01 AM

ne2d: Do we at least agree that King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime and Album of the Year are seriously weak?

No, King for a Day is hardly weak. It's weirder and more caustic than Angel Dust, but there are a lot of great tracks on it. It's not quite as cohesive as Angel Dust, but it still rocks my face every time I listen to it.

Album of the Year? Yeah, that one's not very strong as a whole. However, there are some pretty good songs on it.
