Holy fark! Sped up or not, or even if there wasn't a video at all, that was just wrong! This cop should not get away with this one. Judging from the day-after-pic of her face he's lucky he didn't kill her or cause major brain damage.

The "Yakety Sax" bed under it was a giveaway that something was wrong with the tape too.

The Iconoclast: or cause major brain damage.

Despite the common belief to the contrary, even a "little" brain damage, such as caused by a concussion, can be serious enough to cause cognitive deficits that last a lifetime.

Now - this is possibly unconstitutional - but, I am perfectly comfortable with the idea of him having the photo of his victim sewn into his prison uniform. Maybe on one of those 1950's Family Circle "poo-patches". (you know, with the two buttons)

I'm not saying that it would be legal...I'm just saying that I would be ok with it.

(Went to the article expecting to be irritated with prosecutorial misconduct...changed my mind as I read and saw that picture.)

Real speed, very hard slam. Totally inappropriate for the circumstances. He took no care to insure her head wouldn't hit the ground. In fact, it looks like it was purposeful. She pissed him off, he lost his temper. He could have easily subdued her without such tactics.

I'd fire him. This was not a case of a violent person actively resisting, this was him losing his temper.

While doing my research on athletes and steroid abuse, I found police officers abuse steroids and hGH at about the same rates as pro-wrestlers. One study even linked steroid abuse to increasing rates of police brutality.

alterations to video and audio are *stunningly* easy to see by way of data forensics, in the digital domain, and stripping away the metadata.

If you have a DVR rig for security, in your home or car, NEVER alter the files or even change the edit points.

Hand the whole thing over on a DVD, should it be entered into evidence.

Jesus. And how many other cops are in the video there? Looks like 2, at least, and they stood by and did *nothing*.

And people wonder why so many distrust cops. Because they do shiat like this and get away with it, and the other cops nearby aren't punished for failing to intervene.

Yet another case of police brutality where it is likely nothing serious will be done. The officer and the others who did nothing should be stripped of their badge and never be allowed to exercise authority every again.

I cannot wait for the Fark Cop Defense Team to prove how this was justified and totally the woman's fault for not doing exactly what the cop wanted her as he was thinking about it.

So true, and even more the reason this "officer" should be given a desk job or be forced to find another line of work.

You see that same move on virtually every episode of Cops. She just had an unlucky landing and she bruises easily.

WTF!

There is no defense for what this pig did. He clearly is just one more idiot with self-control issues who should not be a cop.

Fark him, he should have fun in prison getting slammed around like that before the pounding.

The other pigs in the video are just as culpable for not doing a damn thing after that slam.

If I were to beat a woman like that I'd have to do some time at the very least. Cops are given the authority to use force, even deadly force should the situation permit. They should be held more responsible then the average citizen, and receive harsher sentences because of this.

Corn_Fed 2008-12-07 02:41:23 PM
This cop is a quintessential illustration of the phrase "bad cop." He's a rotten apple, and needs to be disposed of, in prison.

Thank god for video cameras.

I can testify to that. My short term memory is shiatTY. It really affects my business, The clients become offended that I don't remember their names - Even though I did business with them 4 or 5 times.

He used force that should've been reserved for violent men or those high on PCP with hostile intentions.

I like your idea of justice, reassignment to a desk job.

Since I already work a desk job, I suppose I can do this to your wife, daughter, mother with impunity?

Corn_Fed 2008-12-07 02:49:49 PM
The video was not sped up at all. That defense attorney is full of sh*t. Look at the other officers walking around. They are moving at normal speed throughout the video. There is no speed "hiccup" for them when she gets slammed down.

That cop is cooked. Sentence him to at least 15 years of buttrape.

Oh I agree 100%. Can you imagine what it would be like to live in a country where the cops can kill with impunity? A crooked cop is the worse kind of criminal.

i bet it was, i bet that camera shoots at 29.97fps and the player plays at 30fps . the lawyer will confuse the jury when the expert is forced to say it is technicaly sped up.

yey justice!

Good point. Let me rephrase. He should not be a cop, after he gets out of jail for this.

Yogimus 2008-12-07 03:15:55 PM
WAY excessive force. So many cops present. The cop's action was criminal at that point. The woman did nothing to earn that type of treatment. She was actively resisting, yes, but she was not combative or even assaultive towards the officers.

She did not want to go in handcuffs. The cops should know that, and be ready to deal with her when she was told this. Hell, she could barely stand up, how could they justify stating that she presented any threat what so ever?

He should be punished to the full extent of the law, and the senior patrolman on scene should also be facing some sort of disciplinary administrative action for losing control of the scene.

The Officer who threw the woman should not be an officer any longer. You are not given many chances as a cop, and hurting someone unnecessarily is a one strike deal.

She deserved to be beat for her criminal behavior. That police officer did nothing wrong and should receive a medal.
