For some reason, when I saw "virgin hitman" I thought of some emo teenager wiping out a Megastore because they didn't have this week's whaa-baby CD.

Came here to say this. Can we get some reporters/proofreaders who actually know the English language?

Stories like this are pretty much why we need the "FAIL" tag.

FTFA - "one suffered a broke elbow, another suffered a severely injured his neck and back"

Has the reliance on spellcheckers grown so much that no one learns proper english? I've always thought that some type of formal education was required to become a major newspaper reporter.

The younger generations are going to ensure that proper writing skills are ridiculed and this form of half-assed writing becomes the norm.

Mark my words.

I came to snark about grammar too, and since you've all said it already, i'll add to lostcat and point out that usage of the non-word, for example "ur", is also on the rise.

Next time you read political commentary in a newspaper, remember that there is a brain-damaged "journalist" behind the "facts".

Impressive. I always thought the tribune was a decent paper. Never read it mind you, but Before reading that piece, I would have put them somewhere around SF Chronicle and Washington Post quality, but below NY times and Wall street journal. Now I guess I'll plop them in the ghetto with USA Today and its soulless minions.
