This. They'd better air that footage, or he's nowhere near who he thinks he is. The more gruesome, the better.

Might help defray that whole "pussy fake faker" controversy, anyway.

Even if a tad of it is faked or staged for TV, I guarantee the the guy has gone through more in one day than most of you lazy fat farkers (me included) have gone through in your whole lives.

Broke his shoulder? Does that mean his shoulder blade was broken in two and protuding from his skin?

Or do you s'pose it means collarbone/clavicle? More likely.

And of course I want to see it on tape.

Every time I watch Man vs Wild I want to scream at him to SLOW DOWN! People don't make it through survival situations by rushing through everything, ya bonehead.

ragnarqk 2008-12-07 02:22:39 AM
Bear Grylls fakes it, and is just a big baby.

And those guys on Jackass? Did you know they even take precautions not to actually kill themselves and often have some kind of medical care available just off screen in case something goes wrong?

Total farkin' pussies.

Also, if violence in movies isn't real, then I think it's just a pathetic excuse. I want people to put themselves in mortal danger for my mild amusement, and I want it now!

I don't think that is the reason people hate Bear Grylls. A lot of the things he suggests are wrong and he attempts to do things in the wild that no one would ever actually attempt. Remember that episode where he tried to tame a wild horse? That is a very unbalanced risk vs. reward situation. I am laughing just thinking about it.

/I watch both occasionally but find Bear hotter so I'd pick him over Les.

It's easy enough to say that when you're sitting safely in front of a computer, but once you're actually get into bed with a girl...

Dude, if the show is on tv, they are ALL faking it.

It's called television. It's not real. There's a crew, and the footage needs to be edited.

Get over it, you farking crybabies.

You mean that's BS too? So who the fark is this guy? A 30 year old former Target employee from Overland Park, Kansas?

I *think* he was "21 SAS" and I *think* 21 SAS is the reserves. Not regular Army like 22 SAS.

So sorta like being in a national guard SEAL team.

maybe some brit can shed a bit of light on this.

No shiat. He "teaches" people to always do the most dangerous/tv-friendly thing, not the most reasonable thing. And most of his food strategies would result in a serious negative caloric exchange.

Luckliy, most of his viewing audience's idea of the great outdoors is driving through a national park.

That said, the man has accomplished a lot and was doing it to raise money for charity (albeit in typical camera-mugging fashion). And he likely could outlast most of us in the wild if he needed to. Just not the way he shows it on tv.

The problem I have with Bear Grylls is that much of what he shows is wrong. If someone was lost and they remembered something from his program, they'd most likely be worse off for it.

I wanna see "Bear" do a survival show in Detroit or maybe NE Philly. Boy'd probably get shot.

Given the pace and the theme music, I've always figured the show was geared for people who just missed a TBS marathon of Charles Bronson or Steven Siegal action flicks.

Spongebob Plaid Pants 2008-12-07 02:36:57 AM
I'm sorry, but all the fake Aussie and similar accents on tv have jaded me. I can't stand to listen to Bear. He sounds like he is trying to sell me the latest floor product or a stain remover. And the chances he takes jumping into rivers or climbing cliffs, come on, if you were really in a survival situation, wouldn't you find a way around the gorge rather than jumping it?

/Krikey!

Yeah, Les Stroud is ok and all, but he basically just sits in one spot for a week and we see the highlights of him being bored. At least with Bear, he actually moves around and tries to get out of his predicament. The two guys do a similar thing from different angles and each could probably do the other's show, which would be real fun viewing if ya think about it.

Which one do you think would survive in a real situation in which you could only count on minimal help. Hint: not the one who just got airlifted out of Antartica.

In the first, last and only episode of Man vs Wild that I ever watched this idiot jumped out of his tent and started running at night in the woods because he thought he heard a bear.

Any farking amateur camper knows that was the wrong thing to do, and they call this dude an outdoor expert? HAHAHA.
