So...he does he get it all in the will? or what?

Claus von Bulow's main accusers were his wife's two children by a previous marriage, Princess Annie Laurie von Auersperg Kniessl and Prince Alexander von Auersperg. They renewed the charges against their stepfather in a civil lawsuit a month after his acquittal.

Two years later, Claus von Bulow agreed to give up any claims to his wife's estimated $25 million-to-$40 million fortune and to the $120,000-a-year income of a trust she set up for him. He also agreed to divorce her, leave the country and never profit from their story.

So...he does he get it all in the will? or what?

The article I read implied he gave up his rights to her stuff to settle a lawsuit from her children.

Sunny, thank you for the truth you let me see.
Sunny, thank you for the facts from a to z.
My life was torn like a windblown sand,
And the rock was formed when you held my hand.
Sunny one so true, I love you.

I always thought "Reversal of Fortune" and "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" would have been great if combined somehow into a single movie.

Thank you for pointing out the Xmas allusion in my headline. I wasn't sure it was obvious enough. Thankfully, there are kind people like you around to help out.

No. He gave up his rights to any inheritance so his daughter could collect her share of the money instead.

Forget about cocaine and heroin. All you need is NyQuil and Sudafed. I'm telling you right now, I took the NyQuil five years ago; I just came out of the coma tonight before the farking show! Claus von Bülow was standing over my bed going, "Denis, get up! There's something the matter with Sunny! Hurry up!"

Dialectic: That Glenn Close is one tall hombre!

She has a fantastic singing voice. I saw her perform the perfect incarnation of Norma Desmond in the musical adaptation of Sunset Blvd. in it's Los Angeles run. Technically, I guess that was in Century City at the once wonderful Schubert Theater. Damn, that goes back to 1994-95. What amazed me is she totally smoked the original actress, Patty LuPone. Great Actress.

Her doctor testified that the cost of maintaining her was $375,000 the first year, 1981.

No figures were available for the years that followed, but by the early 1990s room charges were up to about $1,500 a day - $547,000 a year - plus $200,000 to $300,000 for round-the-clock private nursing.

I wonder how soon she died after her money ran out?

I came for the Denis Leary references...and am satisfied.

Sad. Very.
Proven? Never enough for the charges to stick.
As to why they didn't "pull the plug" I don't believe she was on life support, just a feeding tube, and it's wicked hard to get those discontinued.

Wow, I thought she was dead a looooooooong time ago.

farkwell 2008-12-06 11:22:20 PM
there was an episode of law and order a few years ago where they finally discovered that a bad guy (a doctor) would fly to spain, buy insulin, then bring it back to his club of bad guys. they'd draw straws (or something) to decide who got to "do" one of their wives.

then, they'd overdose her on insulin, she'd go into some shock / catatonic state, then they'd raper her and take pictures.

the crazy part of the story was the lengths they went to to get the insulin.

insulin can be purchased OTC with no prescription. syringes can be bought almost everywhere with no prescription.

farkwell 2008-12-06 11:24:21 PM
farkwell: then they'd raper her

raper? i barely knew her.

Haven been rasied in Newport RI this was a hugh story growing up that we have a world famous murder trial in our home town, and for years after that you wound up showing everyone where the house was that he did the deed in

Inside the Newport Police station is a plaque with Sunny's name on it thanking her for her generous donation to the local police association. (Before she went into a coma)

Great investment.

Winner of internets.

Jefferson Biatchmagnet: Alan Dershowitz: You are a very strange man.
Claus von Bülow: You have no idea.

Dershowitz is more concerned with the LEGALITY of the thing, which I guess is nice if you can divorce (no pun intended) yourself from the morality of the issue. Legally, there was never enough evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt that von Bulow actually administered the insulin that put his wife into a coma, and there were enough irregularities in his trial that Dershowitz was able to win on appeal.

Like I say, that's fine if you're not concerned with the morals or ethics of the thing and can just focus on the legalese.
