Stupid Michael Moore! I hate him so much for accurately predicting that the Iraq war was a terrible idea.

saintstryfe 2008-12-06 03:34:06 PM
I can't believe Michael Moore is fat! I mean he's a liberal, he should be easy to beat up, but he looks like he could take a swing at me if I were to insult him. Why can't he fit my perception of a weak whiny liberal!?!

PhiloeBedoe [TotalFark] 2008-12-06 03:34:11 PM
Yeah, him and that farker Scott Ritter. What a pair of no-quagmire lovin' dipshiats.

That's not even low-hanging fruit subby picked - it had long since fallen to the ground and rotted.

You know what I hate about Michael Moore? How he supports stances on political issues a few years ahead of the American public.

How dare he not wait til 2006 to declare the Iraq war was a terrible idea! What kind of traitor supports universal health care BEFORE hundreds of thousands of Americans get laid off and might be forced to take jobs that don't offer employee health benefits?

I mean, he's fat right? What gives him the right to open his mouth?

For the record, I'm not really a fan of Moore, but the knee-jerk morons that try and tear him down and paint him as a traitor/terrorist-sympathizer are really in a special category of stupid.

mikeandeichmann 2008-12-06 03:44:17 PM
Also, Saddam paying U.S citizens should really be a non-issue, since U.S citizens at the highest levels of government saw fit to put him on their payroll through the 80s.

/Here's lookin' at you, Rummy.

Undiluted 2008-12-06 03:46:38 PM
Sounds like the Bin Laden apologists are once again desperate for something more shameful than their pusstastic inability to catch terrorists.

/Would trade a living, joyful Saddam for a dead Osama Bin Laden in a heartbeat
//Would also trade ten no-balled GOP terror apologists for one 9/11 victim.

Oh, I see. You say that like Rummy selling WMDs to Saddam is a bad thing. Also, Rummy's boss, the former head of the CIA, George Somethingorother, told him to smile and giggle like a girl while shaking Saddam's hand.

Tori Spelling's missing middle tit bone: I hate to do this becuase a stupid alt troll already ruined it but I just thought this cartoon was spot on.

When did Moore ever say anything about Saddam? I'm curious to see what his remarks were that would cause somebody to interpret them into that cartoon.

Either way, these "spies" didn't do all that much more than what you could up from CNN. Then again, reporting on Iraqi expatriates is worrisome. Lock these guys up for spying, or not. Either way, it won't make much of a difference at this point.

DrMcNinja 2008-12-06 04:00:16 PM
anyone have an image of that 1986 Newsweek from a Simpsons episode titled "Why America Loves Saddam Hussein" with him and Uncle Sam sipping from a milkshake together? I've been looking for that forever.

Remove all Republicans: Shvetz: When did Moore ever say anything about Saddam? I'm curious to see what his remarks were that would cause somebody to interpret them into that cartoon.

Moore was right that Saddam was defending himself from an invading force. In fact, Saddam Hussein was probably our closest equivalent to George Washington.

I wasn't aware that Moore said that specifically. Then again, he is correct. Saddam may have been a ruthless dictator, but Iraq was a sovereign nation nonetheless.

And back to the "spies," reading the article again makes them sound a lot like analysts, and not spies.

Since the dozen Freepers exagerated their payments, it begs the questions:

Did Sadam pay enough to cover Total Fark? And was Total Fark invented as a money laundering scheme?

Weren't the tellers suspicious when you deposited old Iraqi dinari?

This doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Friends and foes like to keep an eye on us. For instance, Israel is our biggest ally, but they also have more spies in the United States than any other nation.

As the article says, it's not exactly like S. HUSSEIN had James Bonds running around the US.

I could gain 150lbs, give up on hygiene, become an asshole, and film a movie about the credit card industry. How people can no longer afford their Escalades, blame the CC companies and banks, quote staggering statistics that align with my point of view, and have theatrics to show that people are being victimized.

In a few years I'm sure the CC industry will go even more belly-up since we are already going down that path but would I have proven anything profound or shown causation? No, I would have just made a boring movie.

Ehhh... don't overstate it. I thought the George Washington remark was trolling a bit. Saddam was pretty bad, but that's not reason enough for us to go after him, at least according to the doctrine set out by this administration.

uncdwm: In a few years I'm sure the CC industry will go even more belly-up since we are already going down that path but would I have proven anything profound or shown causation? No, I would have just made a boring movie.

The stance I've always taken on his documentaries is that they don't show anything new to people who are able to see the big picture, but they are quite the wakeup call to most people who have no idea how to read the signs for themselves. His films simply raise awareness, and that in itself is a valuable service.

It's a damn shame he's marginalized as some America-hating traitor. I think he has made some very good calls in the past. The fact that you think they've all been obvious and non-profound predictions, yet they've largely come true, tells me the public really doesn't "get" how many problems we have that need to be addressed today.
