(YouTube) Video The Rolling Stones first toured America in '64 to half-empty auditoriums and mixed results. But they did record this first TV appearance on "Hollywood Palace," introduced by a tipsy Dean Martin with lots of hippy jokes   (youtube.com) divider line 15

Brian Jones looks pissed-off

And of course, Dean Martin was never drunk on stage, it was all an act. I Love anything live by Dean. He's funny and a great entertainer

"You know all these new singing groups these days..."

Nice do know ol' Dean was old even when he was young.

Great, the Rolling Stones before they killed Brian.

Martin played that beautifully: the wise-ass drunk, which was the precursor to the wise-ass stoner (e.g., Cheech and Chong or George Carlin) and then that perfect eye roll after the "aren't they great?"

And, although you can tell that Richards is possessed, the rest of the performance is unremarkable.

Still, a great thing to see. Thanks!

Back when there was something for the counter culture to actually be counter to.

Bill Wyman said Deano was even more rude to them backstage. Boy, that generation gap thing was fun. Not even possible now.

I can't blame Dean Martin. Rock and roll was still a fad then. A ten year long fad, but a fad nonetheless.

Subby is ignorant.

"Tipsy" was Dino's schtick and there were no hippies in 64.

Sorry for your fail.
