I started out thinking the video was completely lame. It's never in focus and they really don't discuss anything much. John isn't nearly as wasted as Bob but Bob does most of the talking.

After close to 6 or 7 minutes, I had the thought that it is kind of cool to be able to watch almost 10 minutes of John Lennon's life. So thanks subby for this one.

Would like to know the date of the film, etc. I'm guessing 1966 because of John's hair length.

Serious question:

What is it with farkers and their inability to understand Bob Dylan? Listening to Rush on the headphones too loud for too many years?

No longer available.... boo.

This is the only known film after 1965 in which John Lennon was the sober guy.

/At that point, Dylan probably hadn't slept in days.

could be wrong, but this is Dylan and his crew sandbagging Lennon in a lame attempt to have the two "match wits". Lennon just wouldn't play ball, which makes him awesome.

And sounds like they're bagging on Barry "Eve of Destruction" McGuire towards the end there...

Not sure about date but this is from Eat the Document.

It's April-May 1966, from the famous "electric" tour with the Hawks.

Eat the Document is also where the "Judas!" performance of "Like a Rolling Stone" that Scorsese used in the Dylan documentary came from.

Dylan seems cool.

Lennon seems like a dick.

I only made it about 3 minutes in. As much as I love the music these guys made (and one of them still makes), especially Dylan, they really are boring people. Blah, blah, blah.

I wouldn't mind running into either one of them at a bar and sharing a drink - they're interesting enough for that, but to watch their 40 year old drunken conversations you really nned to start asking yourself questions.

Is this from before or after Bob introduced the Rutles to tea?

/lots of tea. indian tea.
//and biscuits.

that is the first ten minutes I believe. In part 2 (the next ten minutes or so) you can see Bob's hangover or withdrawals take some toll.

I believe this footage was shot by D.A. Pennebaker around the time he was shooting "Don't Look Back," so this would have been 1965. Pennebaker spoke at my college a few years ago and someone asked him about this footage (which was had been rumored to exists for a long time). He basically said it was Lennon and Dylan drunkenly rambling and barely intelligible. Looks like he wasn't lying.

I don't know if anyone actually watched this video.

John Lennon isn't drunk at all. He isn't the least bit out of it. Dylan is smashed. Lennon is annoyed from the get-go with Dylan who doesn't pick up on it until near the end.
