Now that someone who has the exact same background as Morello is going to be President, what would he have to complain about?

I like Tom but this Nightwatchman thing makes me think he's a step away from dancing around his living room in his pajamas using a bath towel and a paperclip as a cape.

eh, I think RATM quit before they became musically irrelevant. All their albums were good, but not all that dissimilar.

There's always something to protest and get angry at. If not in your country, in someone else's. Thus, there will always be a place for RATM.

/Ok, half-kidding.

He played that Nightwatchman stuff about 10ft from my apartment this fall. Not bad stuff. Different, but not bad.

Zach de la Rocha couldn't find the line to repeat 10 times for a new song? Awwww.

I agree with the sentiment that RATM is irrelevant now. I used to be fan, before I realized that the "Left vs Right" paradigm is a tool of the Global Feudal Lords. Indeed, the entire political process is ceremonial. As such, RATM is nothing more than a band of useful idiots (as Lenin would say). Don't get me wrong, I think that they believe in the music that they have made. It is a sad situation. It is particularly sad that they place so much stock in such an obvious shill as Noam Chomsky.

RATM did a couple of Lollapalooza shows in '96, and that's the only time I saw them live. They were great and the crowd went insane.

Best part of the set was when some guy right in the middle of the crowd starting waving a GIANT Confederate flag (show was in TN) and pissed the band off. They just played harder because they knew better than to say anything.

Good. I hate reunion albums - The New York Dolls being the closest thing to an exception. It was too good of a rock and roll record to pass off.

Yeah, I like RATM too.
I really just think it's neat that he and Obama have such similar backgrounds.

Me, I'm holding my breath for that Zach de la Rocha solo project we've been promised.

I think that came out. It's called Once as a Lion. Check it out, it's not bad. It's pretty stripped down, just a guitar, drums and his voice.

Pointing out the faults in the socialist logic of Sony Recording artists and Shining Path supporters RATM is like arguing with a Kevin Smith fan about how terrible his movies are. Their brosef fan bases aren't smart enough to understand anything but the basest references or easily remembered slogans so why even bother. They'd rather deny that objective reality exists so that they can feign to have discerning taste.

This is why they are full of fail. Can anyone take that shiat seriously?

Wrong.

It's called "One Day As a Lion" and it's his project with the drummer from Mars Volta. It includes none of the stuff he was working on with Trent Reznor that was supposed to be on the solo album. Still, it's pretty damn good stuff. It's basically ZDLR on keys (a distorted thrift store keyboard run through a distortion pedal) and the Mars Volta guy on drums.

I just came in here to note that Tom Morello is pretty damn good on the guitar. His work inspired (to some degree) Muse's Matthew Bellamy. And for that, I am grateful.
