The way I see it, if your name is Richard, and you personally choose to go by Dick, you MUST be one, and proud of it. Otherwise, why wouldn't you go by Rick, Richie, Ricky, etc?

I worked with a chick who married a guy whose last name was Dick. We must have exhausted every possible joke regarding the matter, including asking why she married a Dick, how she felt about becoming a Dick, pointing out that she now had a Dick, and asking if she was planning on having any little Dicks. And of course, giving advice on what she should and shouldn't name her kids.

Luckily, she was a cool chick with an awesome sense of humor about it. If she was single I would have been ON that.
